When your OWN superintendent (not the KHSAA) steps in with a letter like that, something is and has been wrong ... for a while.

Here is the thing:

 

If info submitted to KHSAA was forged/faked and then the KHSAA later learns the truth, the KHSAA is under no obligation to allow kids to keep playing because they were duped.

Is there any proof that fraudulent information was submitted to KHSAA or are you speculating?

So he has attended at least 3 high schools? So I guess the mother moved from the Lexington area to Greenup County for better employment? I'm thinking all parties involved have crossed the line and got nailed.

It sounds to me like someone recently turned them into the KHSAA. When the Principal/AD/Super or whomever looked into it they found the claims to be credible and the Super made the decision to cut ties to the coach(es).

I would hate to think a kid who was averaging 19-15 and was a new student to the school.. no one knew much about him and that he just flew under the radar to the school.

 

I think it sounds like everyone involved thought they were good, but then when the KHSAA got involved they did their best to save face at the expense of the kid and the coaches.

I've seen superintendents that would not know some of their coaches, let alone a new student. If it's at the kid and coaches expense, it probably should be...other than them who should have been reprimanded?

I can understand the super but not the principal, AD. If the board verified them being at an eligible address and the KHSAA ok’d it along with the school etc, then why would the coaches have not let him play? Hate to see a senior not get to finish his senior year out.

Maybe he should have never been ruled eligible to begin with?

 

He would be far from the first to transfer as a senior and not be cleared.

The biggest question it raises is why would the kid move from Lexington to Ashland, then go to school at Greenup County. For those not from the area you're looking at a half hour drive each way from downtown Ashland to GCHS, probably longer for the morning commute. Making that drive daily just doesn't make sense when you have 6 other high schools within the immediate Ashland area to choose from. Also if his family did not move from the Lexington area who is he living with in Ashland? Interestingly enough Amis lives in Ashland but claims not to know where in Ashland that Dryden was living. Personally I would have carpooled if I were them.

The super's letter said there is evidence to support the whole family did NOT move.

 

And the coach saying the player lived in Ashland is telling, too.

 

Was the player paying out-of-district tuition to go to Greenup?

 

Why wouldn't he just attend Boyd or Blazer, unless, you know, the AAU ties to the assistant were more than just a mere coincidence.

The board doesn't verify.

They stamp OK.

 

They're not driving by and making sure people actually live where they wrote down.
