Superbowl Commercials

Featured Replies

So what was everyone's favorite? Any terrible ones? I was at a superbowl party with low volume so I will have to look for some of the better ones tomorrow.

They were pretty underwhelming in general, but Groundhog Day was definitely my favorite.

Not sure it counts as a commercial, but the NFL 100 spot, ending with the kid running the game ball to midfield with the other kids gave me goosebumps.

The Google commercial was super emotional.

The NFL 100 thing was really good.

The Kentucky Football commercial was awesome. I got a little choked up when little #22 was talking with a photo of his dad on the wall behind him...hard to top that.

Was that commercial seen worldwide or regional? Just asking because the Super Bowl commercials are so expensive. I heard $5 million for a 30 second spot.

Those were definitely the best.

Amazon/Alexa was my personal favorite

Porsche

Jeep/Groundhog Day

Google (the old man's memories)

Doritos

Regional. A “famous” Louisville personal injury lawyer had a ridiculous 60 second spot in the 4th quarter. I’m sure that wasn’t seen elsewhere.

Local, each station gets a couple of spots to sell for local ads.

Outside of the NFL 100 spot at the beginning that ended with kids in every jersey running on the field, I really liked these:

* Pahk the Cah with a fun cast of folks.

* Google with his memories of Loretta...that was awesome.

* The Jeep / Groundhog Day spot with Bill Murray was a lot of fun.

The single worst spot / marketing campaign I've ever seen has to be the death of Mr. Peanut and the rebirth of Baby Peanut. So dumb. Dumber than dumb.

Not defending it here, but in case anyone didn't know, when they aired the Mr. Peanut dying commercial a couple weeks ago, it generated A TON of buzz. So mission accomplished. However, once Kobe Bryant died, someone determined it was offensive and they pulled it from promotion. Not sure if that would have changed anything or not.

But yes, they paralleled Mr. Peanut dying to Kobe Bryant. Welcome to the "I get offended at everything" culture.

Groundhog Day

Hyundai Sonata

Google

Doritos

Groundhog

Doritos

and...

Darryl Issacs - the most over the top lawyer commercial ever.
