Memphis' James Wiseman will sign with an agent.

Featured Replies

James Wiseman's college career is over. He is signing and going ahead and getting ready for the NBA.

We will see more and more of his.

Maybe, but also his case is completely different. He has been suspended for the last few weeks anyways, and still can't play until early January. So he was basically having to go to school for no reason, since he wasn't allowed to play.

Not to be a skeptic, was something else potentially coming down the pipe and this was his/Memphis's way of getting ahead of it?

Might as well. Certainly a loss for Memphis, but they’ll be ok. Not sure this is a win for the NCAA in the long run.

This stinks for college basketball. The game is at its best when you have dominating teams or dominating NBA level talent. Not sure we have any of that this year.

I am more inclined to believe he was more frustrated by this than he let on. He is certainly missed, but the team has done well without him. And, in the Oregon game, he was a marked man...two weak foul calls had him sitting out most of the first half. Why bother with college?

You really think that guy has been attending class on a regular basis? C'mon man. He's probably ineligible for the next semester or until his relationship with Hardaway's AAU ties gets further investigated.

I like your comment about having to go to school for no reason since he wasn't allowed to play. That is the exact mentality of these guys now. Let them go right to the NBA and avoid the sham of where college basketball is right now. At least football makes them stay 3 years.

Exactly my first thought as well.

Did he already pay back (or donate to charity) that $11K?

It shouldn't be too hard to pry 11K from an agent.

I was more thinking/hoping that he didn't pay it yet and won't. If you aren't going to play, why "pay the 11K fine" by the NCAA.

It might not hurt to get some kind of an education to learn how to manage his future NBA money.

You all realize I am speaking from the kids perspective. Which his perspective would have been I am going to school for no reason, since I am not allowed to play. So might as well get started on working for the career he would have, that classes wasn’t going to give him. Which classes is something he can always go back to and take one day in the future.
