Let me offer a counter-hypothetical to what Jack asked.

What if Brandon were to come to Boyle as the Head Coach and Chuck stay to coach the Defense with Hester leaving Brandon to coach the offense? Hmmmm.

Best of all worlds??? :idunno:

I like your idea better than mine Hatz.?

I hope you’re right, got anything to back it up or is it just your opinion?

Yes, I have something to back it up.

Latest I’ve heard is Chuck will be retiring from teaching but not coaching. He has entertained the idea of joining Neal at WV but not sure moving is in the cards for him and his wife.

Heard this morning that the search for a new coach for Boyle has begun, haven’t heard anything official about Smith leaving but the source follows Boyle football as close as anyone.

Just got a text saying that Chuck told the team this morning that he was retiring.

I’m getting those texts now also.

I just read his official letter of resignation.

One last Chuck joke.

It is considered a great accomplishment to go down Niagara Falls in a wooden barrel. Chuck Smith can go up Niagara Falls in a cardboard box.

I just read his official letter of resignation.

Seriously....congratulations to Coach Smith on what has to be one of the best football coaching careers in Kentucky high school football history.

Can anyone from the Boyle County crowd fill us in on what his record finishes as at Boyle? Or overall? Just out of curiosity, what other coaching positions did he hold previous to being a head coach? Where did he go to high school?

I believe Chuck was first a asst. coach at Mercer under French. Got the head job at Campbellsville before coming to Boyle.

Chuck went to Jeffersontown High school in Louisville and played for UK.

I have to do some researching as to what Chuck's stats are at Boyle.

Congrats Coach Smith on a retirement well earned. The Rebel Nation appreciates it more than you know !!!

One heck of a High School Coach.

Not sure he finishes as a “Mount Rushmore” type of guy, but hard to argue him as anything other than one of the most successful Head Coaches and best program builders to ever do it in Kentucky.

Got this from a Mr.Network post.
