As if the loss this weekend wasn't enough of depressing news and now this. :banghead: I'm afraid I have Chicken Little Syndrome moping around the house thinking "The Sky is Falling".

Will the NCAA allow Chuck to go to WVU? I thought coaches had to be two years removed from a player before they are allowed to coach them in college. With Reese Smith going to WVU, I don't think Chuck can follow him up there...I could be wrong though.

You are correct.

That's not to say that he would not stay on as a coach.

One of the assistant coaches told me yesterday evening that Hester was retiring from teaching but not coaching.

I have heard that Pardue is retiring at the end of the school semester (December). Also heard that Coach Hester is retiring at the end of the school year. Don't know it that is true about Coach Hester but that's what I heard.

I’ll see him soon. I’ll ask him when I see him.

Chuck Smith is not going to retire from coaching football this year! These rumors are pure speculation.

I hope you’re right, got anything to back it up or is it just your opinion?

Just pure speculation on my part but would Brandon Smith leave South Warren to become the new OC at Boyle with Chuck staying on as HC for awhile longer with Brandon taking over in a few years?

I’d be super surprised if that happened but you never know.

I don't think its a guarantee that Brandon even comes back to be Head Coach if Coach Smith leaves. Brandon is paving his own legacy quite well without having to follow in his Dad's footsteps!

South Warren might be a better job!

1.) IMO South Warren will never be a better job for him than Boyle County would be. Honestly, I don’t think it is possible. That’s a whole other discussion I’d be happy to participate in.

2.) You are correct. It isn’t a guarantee he wouldn’t accept the job and it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t take it. I have been told from numerous people in BG that he loves that area and he loves coaching at South Warren. He also knows how good South Warren will be the next two years.

3.) The only thing I have ever said is that when Boyle County is looking for their next head football coach Brandon Smith will be choice #1, #2 and #3.

4.) Brandon is a head football coach. He’s already following his dad’s footsteps whether he is at Boyle County or not.

Let me offer a counter-hypothetical to what Jack asked.

What if Brandon were to come to Boyle as the Head Coach and Chuck stay to coach the Defense with Hester leaving Brandon to coach the offense? Hmmmm.

Best of all worlds??? :idunno:

Wouldn’t that be something. :lol2: :lol2:

I’ll add this also. I’m thinking that Matt McCloud is Brandon’s current OC and from what I hear they are very close and have a similar relationship to Chuck Smith and Chris Pardue. How that factors in to future decisions being made is something not known to me but definitely an interesting scenario.
