How tough is it to put hash marks in on turf. I think me and the Guru could do it in about 45 minutes. If UC can take apart their field goal post before the fans could tear them down how tough is it to put high school posts in for two days?

 

Plus officials are used to working on high school hash marks.

Only 2 schools play 4 games.

 

Plus you help my point, if a school's fans only have to worry about 1 game, there is no additional hassle for them in playing the finals over 3 days rather than 2.

 

For fans of high school football in general, 3 days is the best way to make it enjoyable.

I think you missed the point. I was responding to a post that compared the football finals to the Sweet 16.

Why is 6 games in one facility tough? It is easier logistically for them to be at one site rather than 3, which will NEVER happen.

 

One day earlier is not harder on the players, considering their games are usally on Fridays.

I proposed the games be played on Sat so that is 2 days. A player with a minor injury may be better off with 8 days to recover than 6.

Yes, you are the only one; with artificial turf there is no need for multiple sites.

Those are breakaway goal posts. The anchor is in the ground and it's "unlocked" so the goal posts fall. You'd have to dig the anchor out and replace it with a new one so the high school posts fit. Who's going to pay for that? Way too much work for something that doesn't give anyone an extra advantage...IMO

Idea...play 4a, 5a, and 6a in Papa John's beginning 7:30 Friday, then 12:30 and 3:30 Saturday. Play 1a, 2a, and 3a in the same time slots at another facility...say Commonwealth. The next year, you can flip the 3 classes to the other place. The only problem would be those people hoping to see all 6 games, but there can't be many people that would want to or be physically able to sit through 6 games in 2 days, considering the weather, etc.

 

You could also account for those posts in favor of smaller venues by leaving 4a, 5a and 6a in Papa John's and playing 1a, 2a and 3a at a smaller place that wouldn't have to be the same place every year.

I'll add in annoucers for TV that actually do some preparation.

 

Not hard to know that NCC's QB is a Senior and not a Junior as he was referred to repeatedly.

 

Oh and I know NCC's placekicker is a soccer player helping out the football team but I could kind of tell he was NOT "the smallest player on the field at only 5 feet and 150 pounds" as the play-by-play guy said. That would make him Danny Devito.

 

And the color guy had no clue what the rule was on the roughing the kicker call and said he needed to ask his friend.

 

And the classic had to be the color guy's halftime grading. He said a key was for NCC to be balanced between run and pass. At halftime they are 19 to 21 gaining 300 yards and scoring 17 points in the process and he gives them a "C" which he is entitled to as his opinion. Except he follows it up five minutes later by saying, "Uhhh 19/21 ratio is pretty balanced and that's close enough that I should have given NCC an A." What???????

If half of all the coaches and staff watch every state final I'd be suprised. I was at the 3A state game two years ago. When the game was over there was almost a complete turnover in fans, and the game following was a pretty big game. So from what I saw fans staying to watch multiple games is a small # no matter who they are.

 

The coaches are up on the 2nd level in front of the boxes. By the looks of things the past few years that is where all the coaches are at.

 

I would prefer the 2 games a day with 1, 2, 3A games being played in the morning and the 4-6A being played at night.

 

As far as the field goes. Everyone is playing on the same field and if a coach is that worried about hashes and goal posts then it is easy enough to practice.

May want to review your maps. Bowling Green is much more central than you think and has some 2 1/2 hours left of Kentucky if you head west. If Etown is the geographic center of the state, and BG is exactly one hour from there, it's just about as close to the middle (in terms of proximity) as Louisville.

 

Plus, the people in Bowling Green want events there and many in Louisville (especially the police for traffic control, etc.) seem to view events as an inconvenience.

 

Murray might have been a better example to be coupled with Morehead.

Thursday at 4:30 and 8:30

Friday at 3:30 and 7:30

Saturday at 1:30 and 4:30

Have three games played on Friday and Saturday OR Saturday and Sunday without the one and a half hour or so break in between games. That way the crowds will be larger for all games, you only pay a flat fee instead of leaving and coming back to the stadium, you don't have to miss school or work to attend the game. Does this make sence to anyone but me?

 

The first game for each day would start at noon and then the following games would be 30-45 min. following the preceeding game. The typical hs game last 2.5-3 hours. So if you start the first game at noon then the next game would start around 2:30-3ish, then the last game would start around 5-6ish.

I would think that 3A, could play at Murray State University (they are installing new Field Turf this spring from what I understand) on Friday Night then 1A, 2A Saturday late afternoon then Saturday evening.... The city of Murray and more importantly the Western part of the Commonwealth would love and treat the fans great to have this event in their part of Kentucky. I would rotate these games from Murray, to Eastern to Morehead... I would then play the 6A on Friday night (same night as 3A) in Louisville then 4A, 5A at the same time on Saturday as above. That game could be switched with WKU, and if Kentucky ever gets Field Turf then they could get into the mix also..... Nothing wrong with playing these games all on Friday and Saturday and spreading the money around to the different areas of the Commonwealth and thus making it nice for all the fans, just not those in the Louisville area.

How is it abritrary when it is based on what we do on the field?

 

The current playoff arrangement places teams based on what district they are in, and makes no attempt to balance the playoff bracket so that the best teams do not eliminate each other before the final. That is arbitrary. Using ratings to seed the playoffs (not determine who gets in, mind you) would be a much more deliberate method for setting up a quality playoff.

That could be something you can use the average of the Massey, Cantrell and Lit for; or they could use the BGP rankings for it. Being that the BGP rankings are often more accurate than any other.

 

I think you'd have to use a computer rating system like Lit, Massey, etc. since they rate every team in every class. BGP just rates the top 10--how do you seed a 32 team playoff with just a ten-team ranking?

I think you will see a push for this. I thought Western had turf?? I would say with the stadium expansion this year Western will want to get into the mix. I think someone sugested earlier 1,2, & 3 at one site 4, 5, & 6 at the other and alternate the next year. I doubt that the high school coaches would like it. I also wonder what college recruiters would think about it.
