All Play No Work
1. NewCath (Kind of a team of destiny, buried at the start of the year and then the 5 game road wins in the playoffs, trailing in the second half in 3 of them.) 2. Danville (Best lines other than NCC, solid running game, speed, good special teams) 3. Beechwood (Solid all around and can beat you with run, pass, special teams or defense. Quicker than you think and maybe a year away.) 4. Somerset (Only thing preventing a top 3 ranking is the defense. Offense on par with anyone in Class A.) 5. Raceland (Pretty much the same as Somerset whereas the offense was ahead of the defense.) Best of rest.....Lexington Christian, Bethlehem, Mayfield, Bardstown, Frankfort

75center
Where are all the people that insisted that NewCath wasn't a top-5 team at midseason? I didn't follow the argument during the season but at 2-5 they weren't a top 5 team, were they? It sound like they had an amazing run to finish the season on top. Hatz
NCC Beechwood........with a healthy Bankamper Danville Raceland Mayfield Would have to disagree with that one. Danville was a couple of plays from winning this one big. NCC deserves all the credit for making the plays. NCC Danville Beechwood Mayfield Raceland
snakesnot_2000
NCC Danville Beechwood Bethlehem Mayfield At midseason why would NCC be ranked in the top 5 at 2-5? If the BCS had a playoff no telling who might win. A team with 5 loses would never get invited to play. NCC did a great job to finish their season but I think you would have needed a crystal ball to know that they would have finished as state champs at the midseason point. Sometimes in the playoffs it's who you play, where you play, injuries and how your team has come together. NCC did a great job.
Jumper_Dad
NCC Beechwood........with a healthy Bankamper Danville Raceland Mayfield Beechwood might have been the best team in the state with Bankamper, but he wasn't available and they were not. 1 NCC ( Despite injuries, bad plays.......no Excuses just Wins) 2 Danville (no fumbled snap on last series and their #1) 3a Mayfield 3b Somerset (No Injury to top Tackler in Semis maybe they are #1 or #2) 5 Frankfort Every team had issues they could call on for excuses but bottom line is how did it play out. 3ptshooter
Beechwood wasn't bad even w/out Bankemper! Look at who they lost to, 1A state champs, 3A state champs and Kettering Alter who got beat in the finals in OH. Woulda, shoulda and coulda don't count. NCC is the state champs and they are the best team in 1A no matter how you look at it. Injuries, unfortunately are part of this brutal game, some teams luckier than others to avoid big injuries. As for the next top 4, don't matter we will never know since they don't play each other. NCC record don't matter, they were 5-0 when it counted, way to go Breds for bringing the gold back to NKY once again, hopefully the Tigers can cont. to keep the gold here to north.
