I totally disagree it does make a difference if you go both ways in Highschool. I watched Dale Mueller send guys deep every play to tire out the corners or safety's that went both ways on the other team. It all depends on how good your offensive coordinator is. Dale was one of the best.

I hope you didn't take my comment as saying that you or anyone else is the bad guy because I can see how it is not traditional playing both ways. They do get breaks, and they do rotate a lot, but several times in a game you will see the guys listed on both sides of the ball. An example is when Mcdaniel is running the ball, and we transition to defense, you will see him out there with Sacco. At this point, Sacco went one way, and McDaniel went both ways. I get what you are saying 10-15 years ago players never left the field they were in for every snap, and I don't think we have any that currently do that.

Highlands defense was very good but the offense was too one dimensional. The o line simply did not sustain blocks and the attempts to run wide were painful to watch. The snaps from center are an adventure on every single play.

IMO Highlands has the defense to beat Cov. Cath. The offense unless changes are made can't beat Cov. Cath. The QB just slinging it deep and hoping his receivers run under it will not work against good teams. He has a good arm but I feel they need more 5-10 yard passes instead of the homerun every time.

 

#1 for Highlands need to play some offense. Maybe not every series but I feel he could help the offense greatly. I'm sure there are other players as well. Highlands is a good team that I think can be even better.

In my opinion Knoxville Catholic was both out of shape and not near as well coached as Boyle.

I wouldn’t put my best defensive player on the O-Line. The O-Line would wear him down and make him less effective on the defensive side of the ball. Now if you are talking about putting him in at TE in certain situations, I might think about it.

Crazy that Huddleston doesn’t get 5-10 targets/touches per game. Parents don’t want it? Protecting his future? I guarantee he wants it! I’m disappointed that the Birds/Blue Colonels matchup is now looking like a beating for the Birds at the hands of CCH. Hopefully the rivalry aspect will make it more competitive than I anticipate.

After seeing both teams play, it will be a defensive battle but CCH has too much on offense for HHS to compete with. I think CCH will win by a few scores.

Against Knoxville Catholic Hollingsworth ran it a lot for big chunks. Also the deep passing game hit a few times, it usually does. Boyle’s secondary was on point, Birds have some dangerous WRs. I think Buten played and had a few good runs.

 

If Highlands blocking troubles continue they should install some screen plays.

Certainly sounds like Boyle was a match up issue for Highlands. CCH defense is pretty good. LexCath QB is good and was in a zone and that’s the only one that really hurt CCH.

 

Right now if Highlands beats CCH it’s likely an edge from home field. Any given Friday......
