Hopefully CovCath will play that cottonelle soft pass defense against Beechwood like they did against LexCath.

Both Beechwood and CovCath have great football staffs, that is a tough one.

All this talk of Beechwood dropping the series with CovCath surprises me. I'd say the Beechwood coaching staff wants this game to continue. Averaging 35-16 loss to one of the top teams in the state is a good thing. Beechwood will not play anyone in their class that is better than CovCath, and they can not replicate that competition in practice. Plus, the schools make a considerable amount of money on this game. If the series is dropped, I would venture a guess that it would have to be CovCath that drops it.

Really the only question is late 2nd quarter or early 3rd quarter. Love the Tigers, but CCH is too strong this year. Hopefully both teams end as healthy as they started, and we can all move on to the next game.

Other than the tradition of it, I don't see why CCH keeps it on their schedule. It's a big game for Beechwood, but a blip on the map for CCH. And that's coming from someone who played against CCH on the Beechwood side. Really there's no upside for CCH to play the game. If they win, everybody shrugs and says yeah we expected that; if they lose however, then it kind of looks bad on CCH and great for Beechwood.

Most of my Beechwood's peeps tell me there is no bigger regular season game for the Tigers.

I love it especially when it is in Ft. Mitchell. Lots of pre and post game parties amongst alums from both schools.

Lots of red shirts at the Saddle Club later in the evening when Beechwood wins, and lots of blue ones when Cov Cath wins. Some of both regardless.

Definitely on that.

The story for Beechwood in this game, much like last week's win vs. Corbin, is how can the Tigers fare in the trenches against the Colonels. Last week, behind Carter Noah, Colby Vanderpool, Blake Shepherd, Xavier Campbell, and Gage Dollenmeyer, the Beechwood OL/DL dominated from the get go. Unfortunately, this is a brutal matchup for the Tigers. CovCath comes into the game the #1 rushing defense in the state and is strong and big on both sides of the line.

My guess is Eviston does what Robbie Lucas in Somerset did in Week 2 -- attack the middle. Expect a heavy dose of Felix, Boydston, Nally and maybe even Mayer carrying the rock. If the Tigers can withstand the early rushing attack, they may be able to keep it within 2-3 scores. If they can't this could get out of hand before the half.

These kinda comments crack up us common sense fans. Look, I love seeing NKY succeed. And yes, the last couple years CovCath has rolled with superior talent. But just how quickly fans forget just a few short years ago when CCH was even in conversation for best team in NKY. Heck, I remember a friend showing me the scoreboard in the weight room that counted down until the following years win against Highlands, which never happened BTW. Point is this is a GREAT game for NKY. Classic David vs Goliath. Battle of Ft Mitchell really (yes, I know CCH is in park hills). Enjoy it, but historically speaking, no reason a school like Beechwood should be dismissed after a couple years of success. Crazy.

Everyone enjoy the night and hope all games are great with no injury.

Is this at 700 or 730?

7:30. It is almost always a 7:30 start for varsity football games at Beechwood.

Agree. I think Covington Catholic also likes the game because of the different challenges Beechwood and their coaching staff often present. Even if Beechwood is outmatched player wise, the game plan that Beechwood coaches throw at Covington Catholic shows them where a top notch coaching staff sees their weaknesses.
