Reds at Brewers (7/22 - 7/24)

Oh my goodness, Peralta retires three batters in a row and David Bell comes out and replaces him one out away from the win. If this does not work, please have your phones set to 911 because there will be some medical emergencies here.

I know the players have to play, absolutely, lots of stinking this year, but, THE best trait any manager/coach can have is being able to put his/her players in the best position for them to succeed, does anybody think Bell has done a good job at that this year???

I think he is trying to manage by the new way things are done with all the data and stuff. Which so far for the most part it has backfired more than helped. Which I don't always agree with, because I do think you need to still do some old basic things with it. However, if the new way of doing things is correct. Then the Reds are due for the numbers to start working out better for them. So maybe they will go on one of this magical runs where they win 18 out of 22 games or something. Maybe tonight is the start of things starting to work out for the better after that Suarez homerun!

Darn it FC. I was holding off on posting that, waiting to see if that was going to get posted or not.

Haha my bad.

Reds win 6-5. Peralta and Hughes shuts them down in the ninth.

Whew! Hughes gets the last out. I was really worried for a couple of our friends on here if that had not worked out. That was a serious gut check win for the Reds.

This is why baseball is so interesting. There were probably 15 things that happened tonight that we all could debate for the next couple days. And who knows what the right move is in each one of them. All those moves ended up with a Reds win so I guess we have to say good job.

By the way, remember Asher Wojciechowski? He pitched in 25 games for the Reds in 2017 and had a 6.50 ERA. He didn't pitch at all in the majors last year. He had a 5.74 ERA in 4 appearances this year for the Orioles. A couple days ago he almost pitched a no hitter and struck out 10 against the Red Sox.

Senzel gets on base and Suarez goes upper deck to give Reds 6-5 lead. Suarez second Home Run of the night.

Wow, that had to be close to 500 feet!!

I think it has more to do with nuts and blind squirrels.

What the.............I turned this one off after the grand salami Iglesias offered up.

Wow! Big time home run there by Suarez! Reds are back up 6 to 5.

Well that was a nice surprise to wake up to. A little past my bedtime for a Monday haha!

I know there is probably pretty much no chance that we sign Puig and it probably isn't in the Reds best interest financially but I really do like him on this team. Sure he'll make a bonehead play every once in a while, but he plays hard. Loved the single that 95% of the majors would settle for that turned into a double.

The big question though is he only hustling because he's playing for a big contract?

Good question. Someone whose watched the Dodgers in years past a whole lot more than me would have to answer that. Interesting angle that I didn't think of.

Either way, it probably doesn't matter cause the Reds aren't paying him anyway.

Tonight's matchup is Tanner Roark vs Zach Davies.

After last night's miracle, the Reds have about as much chance of winning tonight as LRCW does of becoming president of the Dusty Baker fan club.

On the rumor mill is that the Reds might be interested in trading for Charlie Blackmon. Not really sure about the thinking on that.

Votto a double, and Suarez goes opposite field. That's 3 2-run HR's in his last three AB's.

Votto comes out and says that he has to play better and that he is not going to choke up on the bat in the near future. His swings look better already.
