New NKU coach son, Walker Horn.

I said, ma'am you are free to go to any school you want to & take a tour of the school, facilities, talk to administration, pick up a student handbook/code of conduct book, etc, but I will not discuss your son's past athletic achievements or anything of that nature. I told her she could look up anything she wanted on the KHSAA website in regards to athletic information she was interested in about any school in the area & wished her & her family well on making a good decision on her sons next school.

Great advice @Johnny_Utah and I wish we had more people in our schools with such high character.

Did they end up at your school? haha

They actually did.

The Horn's toured Highlands this week. And so have others......Would be a nice pickup for a program on the rise and doing some good things.

They toured CCH as well.

How big is he now?

Highlands connection... Horn is going to coach at NKU, Shields coached at NKU, Shields with connections/relations to Listerman, Listerman coach at Highlands..... ntm that Highlands has great academics.

6'2". He was playing JV ball as a freshman point guard. Division 6 high school, Texas' large-school basketball class.

It's just not Shields & Listerman. Highlands has a Tates Creek alum in the Program too. They have stay pretty connected throughout the years.

Plenty of CCH connections as well. Mote Hills left CCH to start the basketball team at NKU. Shields coached at NKU and went to CCH. Listerman played at NKU and went to CCH. Covington Catholic's academics are none to shabby.

If I was in his position The following schools is where I would visit if I was just a basketball player :

1) Cov Cath - the record they have had since Coach Ruthsatz has taken over is unbelievable. From top to bottom they have the best coach staff in State of Kentucky. They have the best assistant coach in Joe Frederick! If I wanted my kid to go to college for basketball they would be my number one choice.

2) Moeller- very successful last two years . Only negative part their style of play is very boring.

3) Cooper- Head coach is one of the top coaches in NKY.

4) Campbell - Don’t know much about them. Been successful last few years

5) Scott- Always up there in successful programs! Coaching staff is first class.

If I was serious about basketball I would visit those five Schools and would waste my time anywhere else.

I think Moeller has been successful for a lot longer than 2 years. They have lost a combined 4 games over three years and have only lost more than 5 games in a season once in the last 13 years. And how are they any more boring than the other teams you mentioned? I am pretty sure they have sent more kids D1 over the last 10 years than the other schools mentioned combined. But as for the young man in question, if he lives in NKY, I would go to Cov Cath.

I hear you.

In the past I have also heard the football powers that be at Beechwood discouraged football players from playing other sports.

I know for a fact this is no longer the case.
