It is my understanding that if a parent or guardian is employed by Boone County Schools, then their child can go to any Boone County School. I don’t know all the details of the rule, but I know it’s a thing.

Again, I am fine with players going where they want. Boone Co Schools should drop their district rules because they have become a farce.

 

For example, if Horn moves into Triple Crown in Ryle's district and wants his son to play at Cooper, I bet his son will be allowed to play at Cooper.

If we say non Catholic and look at current state of basketball programs, Beechwood is a good guess. Beechwood has a lot of talent and very good momentum in the program.

 

I wouldn't count out Cooper. They seem to be drawing a lot of talent from all around N. Ky. despite the supposed Boone Co. schools district restrictions.

 

I am hearing of some additional transfers to Cooper this year.

I’m thinking that coaches aren’t allowed to contact them but there aren’t any rules in place stopping parents of kids at that school to contact them.

Maybe but not many Beechwood FB players play basketball any more for whatever reason. I would say more kids at all NKY schools play FB and baseball than basketball and any other sport.

Oh I agree and there are plenty of football players that could have helped teams but they chose to not play. May be they are just wore out from a long football season which goes about 9 months these days with all of the preseason workouts and summer practices and then a long season.

In the past I have also heard the football powers that be at Beechwood discouraged football players from playing other sports.

 

Since we are on the topic, at least in the past, CovCath was notorious for discouraging kids from playing more than one sport.

 

This is why anyone moving into this area looking for the best opportunity for their son or daughter needs to talk to some people in the know and NOT people with an agenda or anti-agenda for any one school.

The mom contacted me & was going through all of the accolades that her son had received from his previous school & I listened but didn't comment on that aspect of the conversation. She stated that they were still deciding on whether they wanted to attend the school I was at, another public school located close to mine, or a private school also in the area.

 

I said, ma'am you are free to go to any school you want to & take a tour of the school, facilities, talk to administration, pick up a student handbook/code of conduct book, etc, but I will not discuss your son's past athletic achievements or anything of that nature. I told her she could look up anything she wanted on the KHSAA website in regards to athletic information she was interested in about any school in the area & wished her & her family well on making a good decision on her sons next school.
