I have always held Owensboro as a worthy opponent for my Purples and still do.

But they have moved into the Team Cupcake slot schedule wise:

You should definitely defeat Great Crossings and Grant Co. in the district but should feel good if you avoid a running clock against both Scott Co. and Frederick Douglass. Plus it looks like a pretty easy non district schedule other than GRC and Russell.

1, Highlands will have the most talent they've had in the past 5 years. 2, Highlands scheme will look VERY different from the past few years. The new OC has these boys VERY excited about what to expect from the system. It's going to be a very tough 5A this year, but the Birds will without a doubt be in the top 5 in 5A and will battle CCH for the top spot in NKY. There are some talented teams in NKY, but people will quickly see CCH and HHS will be a notch or 2 above all the others.

 

I hope the Birds do well. I'm with JOAT, way too early for a post like this.

Haven't heard anything about who the QB might be.

A lot of info in your post. Has Highlands had it's first practice yet?

Will Highlands challenge Cov. Cath? Also how will Conner and Cooper with a Big Things favourite player Jeremiah "The General" Lee compete in that NKY district.

 

Highlands challenged them last year, why wouldn't HHS do the same thing this year?

I’ll take a shot at a top 5.

 

Disclaimer: I’m not too well versed on Nky teams

 

1. Douglass (I don’t know much about them and I’m not so sure how they’ll be since losing their star QB)

 

2. CovCath (I watched them the past two years and they were great, I don’t know how much talent they keep but Michael Mayer is a force)

 

3. BG (Of course I’m a little biased but, I think if they find a QB, which it seems like they’ve done, they’ll be a serious contender. As long as they stay injury free the schedule will prepare them for the playoffs)

 

4. Scott County (Again don’t know much about them, but they’ve been a force in 6A for a while and I expect that to continue in 5A. I’m just not sure about Great Crossings impact.)

 

5. South Warren (I’m only putting them this low because I have no clue of their talent. They lost all of their stars, but their coach is great at developing talent.)

 

I personally think that 5A is anyone’s game this year and anyone in the top 5 could win it. Should make for the most interesting season in a while!

I'm not sure seniors are going to Great Crossing. Typically 9th, 10th, and 11th go to the new school and 12th graders have the option, with most staying at the school where they've always been. The real testament to how much a new school affects Scott County likely won't come for at least two more years.

What everyone is missing is a great coached team that has bought into the process. Ever since Egli took over this football team it has become the talk of the town and the surrounding counties. Why do you think they moved us into a new District. Its not because we suck. Its because no body wants to play us. We are a Wing-T offence and a 3-6-2 Defense. This year we have around 20-25 Seniors that have been playing together since JR.Pro. (3rd Grade)

(Side comment: I don't think your team's success or style of play is why you are in a different district. A lot of teams changed districts and class because of the 4 year re-alignment.)

It's part of it. We were having trouble finding people to play (Especially JV)

 

But Im new to this re-alignment also so maybe I just don't know what Im talking about. LOL

Agreed. We played Scott in middle school I know all about the size and skill for sure.

 

But I don't know anything about Frederick Douglass.
