UK 87 DePaul 81

Featured Replies

I watched a little over half of the game. I've been very impressed with the freshmen over all. I didn't know if we'd have any depth whatsoever but they teams still looking pretty good towards the end of games.

I give some credit to Scott Holsopple the S&C coach.

UK was in great shape. Didn't see anyone bending over and grabbing their shorts. DePaul was. Best conditioned team I have seen in a while at UK.

Negatives:

Defense needs some work. Got beat off the dribble far too much.

Defensive transition at times

Morris going with the fadeaway

Still go through some scoring droughts.

Crawford still forces perimeter shots. If he would think drive first he would be much better.

Late game descision making...Bradley over penetrating, taking quick shots.

Still struggle at times to inbound ball O/B under

Positives:

Conditioning

Obrzut...gravvy

Morris when attacking the basket.

16-20 from FT line

Bradley passing the ball, improvement from first game out.

Hitting jumpers from mid range and beyond.

Some spurts from the freshman.

I'll take it, DePaul has the potential to be a NCAA team.

Does Jerry Wainwright look like a 2 pack a day smoker?

I think it's a VERY solid NCAA Basketball group of FROSH. I like this class a lot more than I did the 03 class when they were both at this stage. If the two groups can get it going, watch out...

This is the one I totally didn't get...what exactly is he trying to do with that fadeaway? The bad part is, he did it several times.

Though overall, at this point in the season, not a bad win.

Wish I could share your optimism. Tubby was dead on in the post game interview, defense has to improve. They got beaten off the dribble waaaaaay to easily tonight. Gave up the baseline so often. This team is very raw, but does have some potential.

Raw is the best adjective to describe this team. The freshman class has some studs who will end up getting some big minutes before it is all said and done. When this team starts to mesh.... watch out!!!

Hopefully they can mesh before 9pm tomorrow night.

I agree it could be an up and down year. But as these freshmen become sophomores it'll be fun to watch em.

Nice W for UK. Now lets see them get a big one tomorrow night.

Nice win tonight. The defense has to improve, but I just really like seeing this offense doing better this year, because we all know that Tubby probably will definitely get this defense figured out. So if we were going to have a problem on one side of the ball Im glad its defense, because its alot easier to get better on defense than on offense, and with Tubby I think we will see this defense get alot better as the year goes on...

Nice win tonight for the Cats....Morris looked very solid once again, but I'm not sold on Bradley at the point yet....He wants to shoot way too much for a PG. I'm not real sure why Jasper didn't get off the bench in the 2nd half. I think he would have been helpful.

Tomorrow night should be pretty tough but I think the D is going to perform a heck of a lot better than it did tonight.

What has Bradley done to not sell you on him. I mean who you going to replace him with. Yes Jasper is good, but he is not ready to lead this team and has too many turnovers doing that one handed pass all the time. I know Jasper is going to be a great one, but Bradley being the PG is the best for this team and the offense. Bradely gives this team something that we have been missing for awhile and that is a PG that scores. Also its not like Bradley is not passing the ball, I know he got another 4 assists tonight, and he is running this offense very good right now. There is nothing wrong with a PG shooting the ball if he still running the offense good, and passing the ball when there is someone open, and he is doing that. Except he also has the ability to create his own shot. I think him being at the PG position helps this team alot more than it hurts it. Then having someone like Jasper coming off the bench is a big boast to this team as well...

What were Stevenson's stats?

Nothing really good. I know he didn't play that much in the game, and the only thing good he really did was the dunk he had early on. Tonight he had to go against some actual strong guys down low, and he looked like an actual freshman tonight with alot of mistakes. When we play teams with big guys down low early on he is going to have a hard time and struggle, but as the year goes on he will get better.

Also I know alot of you are down on Sheray Thomas, and yes he is not going to do anything flashy that really shows up on the stats, but he is someone that is very important to the success of this club. Stevenson is not always going to be effective, and we are going to need a bigger body like Thomas to come in and bang with some of the big boys. I know for the most part I thought Thomas did a pretty good job for the most part playing inside against those guys tonight while Stevenson was not in there, and its important that Thomas does do well for us...

A lot more points than I had predicted. To score in the 80's is a big plus. Cats did a lot of positive things and looked good at times.

Tough matchup tonight. Stephenson should be a little more relaxed tonight so I look for a nice game from him. The UK Freshman are very impressive.

Go Cats!!!!!

Crawford is a solid offensive player, but to borrow a phrase from a former fat Utah coach " He couldn't guard you with a gun and a badge".

Good win for the Cats tonight. Imo our defense had way too many "lapses", got beat off the ball, was no back side help "D" rotating down thus giving them way too many easy shots/layups. Tubby is a defensive minded coach so I feel that he will get that lined out. This is a young Cats team and will come around with better communication on "D" as time goes on. Except for our defense or lack there of I was pleased with Bradley and Morris on offense along with Jasper. This UK team will be fine, just need to get a few games under their belt. Tonights game will tell a lot about where we are at and where we need to be. Crawford imo also had a nice game but along wit others was lost on defense.

One thing I noticed last night was Tubby actually looked "happy" in the post game interview. I know he's in Maui, but I have not seen him that relaxed in a long time. On another note, the whole team looks much more cohesive this year. While the D was spotty at times, at least they seem to be communicating more than the last couple of years. Everyone out there looked like he was having fun--that has been missing the last several seasons.
