Belfry 49 Middlesboro 26

Featured Replies

Great game by Belfry ,they had ZERO turnovers and we had about 5.

You can't beat a good team when you turn the football over that much and the other team doesn't.

Other than the Central game this is by far our worst game of the year for turnovers and stupid penalties and it couldn't have came at a better time for Belfry.

Middlesboro turned it over 4 times... 3 INT, 1 Fumble...

And Belfry has caused alot of teams to have their "worst" games..maybe its just luck:rolleyes:

Middlesboro did not sustain a single true scoring drive against Belfry all night. In order to beat great teams like belfry you have to be able to put together drives, not rely on the homerun.

As for penalties,

Middlesboro had 8 for 82 yards

Belfry had 7 for 75 yards... the Pirates made some stupid penaties themselves.

Good luck to the Middlesboro Sr's........Belfry is a great team. Coach Roark needs to decide if he really wants to coach this team anymore, the program has lost it's fire......Run with it, OR give it up....

Belfry had one free gift on a turnover that was uncaused and that was the fumble. The first interception was just an amazing catch. The second and thrid was caused by pressure. Middlesboro was faster than I figured they would be. I would be willing to say they were fastest team in 2a and thats not a knock to no team. I figured though their D scheme would hurt them some. Coach Haywood came with a game plan that took it to Middlesboro and it worked. And the forced turnovers was part of the game plan to. Belfry believed if they could lay some good hits it would force some things and it worked.

But Middlesboro dont hang your heads losses stink and you can always think of things you could do better (especialy when you loose) The big difference in this game was Belfrys size and depth. In the second half we were comming free after the QB every play. But dont quit Middlesboro you guys do have sumtin special going on. I do hope everyone made it home safely. The Middlesboro fans I talked with tonight were all nice and classy bunch of people.

Go get Russell Belfry we got revenge on our mind. I know you guys can do it.

Good Job Pirates!

Beat Russell, take State!

Toots, would anybody bring out Captain Obvious if I said that since the Sheldon Clark game this team has gotten a little bit better each day?:D

The defense has flat-out stepped it up. The offense looked as in sync last night & the week before as it has in any year, and the D looked like they're finally ready to man-up and stop the run.

Perhaps more importantly, I think we're finally seeing 11 guys on the field that have the desire to win. Lots of times during the year I questioned their focus, but they couldn't have picked a better time to step it up.

Congratulations to the players and coaching staff on a game well played.:thumb:

The two "T's" were huge...tackling and turnovers. I thought Haywood did a great job in preparation for this one. Mixed it up well offensively....and really schemed well defensively to create pressure on Hoskins.

IMO, the play of Phillip Hickman was absolutely tremendous. Continous pressure...he was simply a beast last night. He was a real difference maker.

You're echoing something similar to what I was thinking...

The loss to Sheldon Clark may have been the BEST thing that could have happened to this Pirate squad. With the Pirate's ultra-winning history since 2003, it's possible the players had forgotten they could be beaten. The Cardinals gave them a reminder that is/will serve very well now...

:bunny:

No surprise that Belfry put up a bunch of points on Middlesboro ... every good team the Jackets played this year did the same thing.

On the other hand, maybe Middlesboro's defense didn't wear down, as I had suggested ... the Pirates kept scoring too quickly, apparently. ;)

Belfry seemed to score at ease in the 3rd.. 4th quarter I gotta lil' nervous

Middlesboro turnovers came at key points in the game. Right after Middlesboro scores the safety has a blown coverage for a td and then 3 picks that just was thrown up for grabs and the sack right before half put a damper on the jackects spirits, ever qb knows you cant take a sack, try and run for it or thats the time u throw it up for grabs and hope your team comes down with it! The Earls kid can play anywhere he wants to and so can the Farr kid! The bowling boy will be tuff next yr and good luck to Farr and Earls, I hope to here from ya'll in the next level!

Farr will be a JR next season.

We lose Trevor Hoskins, Nick Reynolds, Andrew Breeding, Jordan Bisceglia, C.G. Ford ,Casey Earls and I think Brad Wilder.

I like the team we have coming back next season we just need to develop a QB.

And a defense. M'boro needs to drop Lee Co. and the Class A teams and play a tougher schedule, instead of padding the schedule for wins, or they will always get creamed in the playoffs when they face a good team like Belfry...

Can anyone tell me how Bobby Burton did for Belfry. i was just wondering what kind of game he had. He use to go to Breathitt and was one of my best friends.

I don't have any stats, but Burton played well, as usual. He is solid on the offensive line and he was in the backfield all night on defense. He and Philip Hickman really disrupted the QB on several passing downs.

The Adams Kid Will Be a Hugh Factor Next year As Well He Looks Like He Can Do It All. Will He Be A Senior?
