November 17, 200619 yr This to say the very least is very sad and tragic news:cry: . Bo will be remembered as one of the greatest football coaches of all time. He was a great man along with being a great football coach. I just heard one of the espn commentators say that when J. Tressel heard the news today that a tear came to his eye then he looked up and said "well, Bo will have the best seat in the house tommorrow". R.I.P. Mr. Schembechler, you will be missed.
November 17, 200619 yr Bo got the best of Woody, barely.. Yeah, his record vs. Ohio St. was 5-4-1. Imo when he beat Woody and the #1 ranked / unbeaten Buckeyes in the 69' season in his first year it elevated an already big rivalry to the greatest rivalry in all of sports. Woody and Bo are together again today.:cry:
November 17, 200619 yr Author I thought this was going to be about that singing group called the Dead Schembechlers. I hope that group keeps a low profile for a while. "The band is crushed to learn of the death of Bo Schembechler. We named this band after Coach Schembechler to honor him as the face of Wolverine football. We have never wished ill will upon him in any way and have always wished him the best. When we learned that Bo had seen our web site and was amused by it we were delighted. We were simply delighted. He said to those with him as he read it, 'See, I still matter in Columbus!' That may have been the greatest understatement in football history. We believe that he took the band's name as the compliment that it was meant as and that he was flattered by it. We wish to extend our deepest and most heartfelt sympathies to his family. We are truly sorry for their loss."

November 17, 200619 yr I grew up watching Michigan football and learned that Bo was the Best. College football lost a great one today. Thoughts and prayers are with his family, Michigan community, friends and the 2006 team. I hope the Wolvoreens find the strentgh to make Bo smile tomorrow......
November 17, 200619 yr I wonder if the build up for this game had anything to do with it? I'm sure his blood pressure has probably been up all week. RIP Bo you were and still are an important figure in the World's Greatest Sport! This just adds to the game tomorrow! I just don't know if there has ever been a bigger regular season game in the history of sports!

These players were in diapers when Bo last coached the Wolverines. Plus, players of today seem to have little or no sense of history...which is sad. The timing of Bo Schembechler's death is most ironic to me. A great college football coach!

Bo still played a role for the Wolverines and speaking from exprience, the name Bo Schembechler is recalled often within the football program. Although the players never saw him coach, they knew exactly who he was and what this game meant to himself. If John Wooden were to pass away, I suspect the UCLA players would have a little motivation their next game... and they were not even close to being born when he coached.
