The Paintsville team that won it all in 96' was probabily one of the most talented groups ever put together..I'm not a Paintsville fan but you have to give this group a little credit.

JR VanHoose-6'10-Marshall,4 year starter, played in the NBDL, now playing professionally in the IBL for WV.

Craig Ratliff-6'9-Commited to UNC Greensboro, ended up at Pikeville College and started on the team that went to the NAIA Final 4.

Todd Tackett-Kentucky, origionally commited to Clemson then Kentucky offered..He really didn't do anything at UK, but UK is UK.

Josh McKinzie-6'6-Played for Travis Ford at Cambellsville, but realistically was a D-I player..Had a good career at C'Ville.

ETC.

Loved Breckenridge Co..either 1985 or 1995. No big names...but they were like a well oiled machine...they knew what each player was going to do ..it was amazing to watch them.

It was 1995.

Speaking of Breckinridge County, their 1965 state championship team was pretty good. The best player was Butch Beard, but they had quite a bit of talent.

But......and I'm a little biased here, being from the 14th region....they beat a better team than their's in the semifinals when they upset the Hazard Bulldogs, a loaded team with Jim Rose, who excelled for Western Kentucky's 1971 Elite Eight NCAA team, Chester Rose who played for Eastern Kentucky, and Houston and Freddie Hogg, who I think played football at Kentucky.

I am no Paintsville fan either, but that team was awesome. Dont forget Matt Ratliff and Kyle Adams in the names mentioned.

#1. 1975 Louisville Male(Griffith & Turner)

#2. 1976 Louisville Ballard (Jeff Lamp, Lee Raker, etc.)

#3. 1979 Lexington Lafayette ( Minnifield, Johnson, etc.)

Did that '76 game end with Lamp hitting a half-court prayer at the buzzer to beat Valley ?? (maybe I'm mixing it up with another game...)

I'm definately no Paintsville fan since they kept my team from Rupp two years in a row, but they were loaded. They also had Jimmy Wayne Frazier and Brian Lyon the year before as they were building their great team.

1961 Ashland High School team (not Blazer) was one of best if not the best. All five starters did, indeed, receive D-1 scholarships- Conley (UK), Sergent (Morehead but The Baron screwed up because Harold should have been at UK as well as Mr. Basketball instead of Randy Embry; check Harold's statistics at Morehead and you'll agree); Hilton (West Point), Smith (UC), and Cram (Tampa, I believe). Sixth and seventh men, Sexton and Daniels, were top notch, also.
