I've not seen CCH play this year but know they must have an awesome team to have beaten HHS twice in a few weeks. The Lex Cath O-Line and D-Line is average. Franklin whipped them the entire first half on both sides of the ball and was mostly taken out of the game in the second half with Lex Cath spreading everyone out from sideline to sideline. CCH better not underestimate the Lex Cath receivers or they will be in for a long night. Burbage was good but Caldwell, Guy & Revere are as good or better. I've seen a lot of high school football players and have never seen a player as fast as Revere. The running back Israel is good but didn't have many holes to run through Friday. The QB is solid and doesn't make many mistakes. I don't think they are as good as last year because of the QB play and the defense is not as good as they were at the end of last season. Revere is a shut down corner but the other side is very weak. Lex Cath is not that complicated offensively they get the ball to their play-makers in space and let them make plays. And they have great play-makers. Their kick return and punt return are probably better than anyone in the state. Having said all that I look for CCH to be able to shut them down except for maybe a few big plays and make enough plays on offense to win a close one. One other thing....CCH won't get a call all night.

 

Boy I would sure hate to see that, CCH seems to alway be victimized by bad calls. Regardless, I think Lexcath is a little below what they were last year now that they are without Burke. CCH by 10.

Is it ture the coaches from Highlands and CovCath left the LexCath game at half time when they came to scout on Friday night? That may have been a big mistake!

 

 

I can't speak for the CovCath coaches, but I know the Highlands coaches were there the entire game.

 

I think CC wins the game personally. LC's offense in the second half worked because Franklin Co did not have the corner backs that could match up with Revere and Caldwell. Assuming Castanada is healthy, CC does. He and Brown are both excellent defensive backs that match up as well with Revere and Caldwell as any two defensive backs. I'm sure CC will be ready for the gimmick offense that LC ran very effectively against Franklin in the second half. It was painfully apparent that LC's first half offense was not effective against Franklin and will be even less effective against CC, so LC is going to have to go to the spread offense the entire game against CC. And I don't think they will have near the success against CC that they did against Franklin, not only because CC will know its coming (my understanding is that LC had not shown that offense the entire season, so I guess Franklin had not prepared for it at all) but because CC has the skilled athletes to stop it. And that's not intended as a slap against Revere or Caldwell, they both are dang good. Revere has to be one of, if not the, fastest high school football players I have ever watched.

 

On defense, LC struggled to shut down Franklin in the first half. In the second half, LC put all 11 in the box and Franklin had no answer. While Locknane is a very good lb'er, I don't see him matching up with Sutton. With Bovard and Brown capable of "tieing up" the LC secondary, I expect Sutton to have a huge game. If they commit too much to stop him, I think Wise and Buckley will be able to run the ball.

 

Who knows I can be as wrong as possible, but I expect CC to win this game.

Have been feeling the pain of my senior son who has lived the dream of a state championship since he was old enough to go to a game and worked his tail off to make it happen. While I understand the disappointment he and his teammates are still feeling, I have to tell you that I could not be any prouder of him and them for the committment they gave to the cause and for their leadership. Their disappointment and pain will lessen; my pride in them will not.

My guess is no one who has seen Pop kick, would bet against you on this.

 

Actually I think he might have to wait a game to get it. I do not see CC having to kick too many FG's, probably several PAT's though... :thumb:

I can only imagine the heartache. Congratulations to your son and his team mates, especially the other seniors, for a great season. The two times I saw them play this year (both against CCH), I was very impressed with their talent. :thumb: They put forth a tremendous effort and were part of the best football game I have ever seen. :ylsuper:

CovCath needs to play field position and play within themselves to win. LexCath has to find a way to make big plays to win. I hope the Covcath advantage in line play I saw last year is lessened this year. I think it will be because LexCath is bigger than usual, not as good as CovCath probably, but maybe enough to even things out. Ideally for LexCath, it will be a warm breezy day for November.

CCH's lines are very good this year. HHS couldn't run the ball on them and the "O" line didn't allow a sack in the last game against HHS. Their HOGS are very good this year........

Boss purchased our tickets at lunch today and was told the sales were going very good. Tickets are $6.00 Adults, $5.00 Students.....

I'm going with CovCath by at least 14.

Cov Cath will win but I promise you it won't be because they have more weapons or more speed. It will be because Lex Cath can't block and can't stop the running game. Let's face it. Lex Cath has a ton of athletes but their offensive and defensive line is mediocre at best. Lex Cath's athletes are phenomenal and Cov Cath's #1 receiver will be locked down all night by #9 Revere. He is by far, the best corner in 3A.

 

However, Lex Cath had to show their surprise "Princeton Spread" last week and Cov Cath will be prepared to stop it this week. Cov Cath fans should thank Franklin County because if you are not prepared for the "Princeton Spread" you have Caldwell, Revere and Israel to stop. That is not an easy task.
