Some thoughts about Highlands' season...

Featured Replies

I watched both games and the bottom line is that the CCH beat them up front. And the fact that Cecil is not a very good throwing QB. The play calling was questionable. I still feel #4 has to touch the ball more, he can make things happen and why the QB ran the ball so much I did not understand. If you want to run the QB run more option make CCH play responsiblity football on Defense. But I feel that the season may have been a disappointment to the birds fans but they played tough competition and fell short to a very good CCH team this year. Good luck the rest of the way to CCH

I hope and pray that there are some major changes on the offensive side of the ball.. I don't mean players wise either...The offensive game plan was the worst I have ever seen by a Highlands coached football team. The people that can do something about it, need to do something about it. I feel extremely sorry for these kids. They deserve better than what they have gotten this year..Good job Colonels....Win State!!!
I wasn't able to attend the game yesterday but I do have to ask you one question. Did you forget about last years game vs LexCath? It had to be at least equally as bad.

Dale was not holding out. The birds only run 5 or 6 different plays every game. If HHS has to drive 80 every drive they will have problems. They must keep CCH from crossing the 50. Once CCH crosses the 50 they can attempt a field goal and if they miss, the ball goes to the 20. I am rooting for the Birds!!!

As noted above, when you only have 5-6 plays in your game plan, it gets pretty predictable as the game goes on. There were changes made when Dale brought in an Off. Cord./QB Coach a few years ago, but everyone around the program knows that Dale calls the shots. He is the best at getting them prepared but when it comes time to make adjustments during the game and at the half, there doesn't seem to be any made. Hats off to Cov Cath who made the necessary changes to get the victory.

I think the Birds will be fine for years to come...My opinion is you start grooming Tony Guidugli as your QB for next year...he has great poise and allt he tools his brother had. You move Cecil to feature back...(fastest kid on the team and toughest) and you use Josh Conner as your bruiser for short yardage and a possible bust out. They will need to utilize some of those athletic Frosh (soph's next year) at the WR positions. Possibly Collinsworth..among others.
I think this is a fantastic plan! I hope something like this come to "pass." :thumb:
And the many kids from the local Catholic grade schools that play there Where did the Kramer boy go to grade school ?
Yes, we do have Catholic grade schools IN Fort Thomas!
Like 85% of the teams in the state of Ky. Highlands season is over. We can only hope all the lame excuses will be over in the next few days..
You have heard none.
Home of the Johnson Jaguars !! gotta give em props :thumb:
That's where all the best students come from! :thumb:

You guys lose to CCH and the sky is falling. The coaches call the offense for the talent that they have on the team. They are with these kids year round and they know what they are capable of doing. Next year if these coaches win state they will be geniuses.

Interesting post, thanks for your input.

This is just my opinion...HHS has a very, very, good football Team. But it just so happens, they got beat by propably the best 3A School in the State. HHS is probably the 2nd best in the State. So HHS fan, just let it go. Kinda reminds me of some UK BB fans, have to win the title every year and no Team should ever be better. HHS will bounce back, but they simply lost to a better Team with a darn good Coach.

You have no idea what your talking about.

Boyle Co. suffered through a very similar season this year and I feel your pain. However, I think both programs will bounce back in a big way next year.

Congrats on a good season Bluebirds. People can say what they want, but there are few teams in this state that make opposing players, coaches and fans nervous, dreadful, anxious, and goosebumpy (is that a word?) all over. And Highlands is one of those teams. They strike fear in teams when you see the Bluebirds looming on your schedule. And that comes from their tradition, talent and hard scheduling. But at the same time they help other teams to get better, trying to reach the top were the Bluebirds hang out at. Best of luck to you guys.
