I think South Warren,,, specifically their Defense,,, is a lot better than many people are giving credit to. I also think a little revenge factor comes into play.

 

I honestly think South Warren is the 2nd best team in all of Kentucky.

Cov Cath has never lost in the state championship game correct?

 

They are 7 for 7 on bringing home championships in football when they've had an appearance in the state finals. They're also 2 for 3 in basketball, and 1 for 4 in soccer.

Cov Cath fans are going to be in for a little bit of an extra treat at the game, because the KHSAA is honoring the Cov Cath 1993 AAA State Championship team at halftime of the game in honor of the 25th anniversary of their win over Lincoln County.

 

They're asking any members of the '93 state team and coaching staff to contact the school for details about walking out on the field together at halftime.

 

 

Only game I am looking forward to. I hope it is a good game.

Wow. The weather certainly looks great for this game. May turn out to be the best time slot for CCH.

This is one of those situations where it's hard to determine an area where South Warren could game-plan against a Covington Catholic weakness. Jacob has showed significant growth over the last few weeks, especially in the playoffs, so if the D-Line can shut down McGinness, there's confidence in the passing game. If the passes aren't there, dump it off to Mayer or McGinness in the flat and let them run forever. There's just so many weapons available. If you're South Warren, it's like you have to narrow in on one thing, take some risks, and attack.

Get the ball to Mayer. 11 touchdowns on 41 receptions this season makes for a 1 out of 4 chance at a touchdown on a pass reception. And on top of that, he averages 22.4 yards per reception.

 

If that doesn't work, hit Jack Coldiron with a pass. 7 touchdowns on 24 receptions this season makes for closer to a 1 out of 3 chance that a reception makes for a touchdown. And he's averaging 26.3 yards per catch.

Mayer and Coldiron are so big, strong and fast. All Jacob has to do is throw it up high and those two will get the ball.

Is the spartan helmet with crossed swords the regular uniform for SW this year? Or was that an alternate uniform? Pretty awesome uniforms. If not they should keep it.
