Walton will see why Mayfield is top dog on that side of the bracket. Mayfield is way to balance on offense. Mayfield 45-6.

My question is, what does walton have to do to get any credit? Walton defense is incredible. Walton has opened up both run and pass game. Coach barth will get these young men ready to play Friday.

I think everyone has to give them credit for making the semis but going forward I will say if they stay within 3 tds next Friday then they were legit.

Mayfield is a different animal. A four touchdown win sounds about right.

Walton Verona - enjoy the week, the accomplishment to get to the semifinals and all that goes with still practicing Thanksgiving week. Revel in the challenge of facing one of the top programs in Kentucky. These comments about a lopsided win for Mayfield are not a knock on Walton Verona. They are recognition of how good Mayfield is.

Lol... these are the same comments as Glasgow vs Walton! There is an underdog up in NKY gang that likes being under the radar. Win or lose... I promise you it will be an exciting game! No laydowns or blow out in Verona!

I admire the confidence, but WV will be blown out.

Will this be about an 8 hour bus ride. Lol.

I'd bet that they'll go up Thursday night.

Mayfield usually goes up the night before. They will probably stay in the Louisville area and then drive the rest of the way on game day.

Hit the nail on the head. It is what they did when they played Beechwood.

WV has a nice stable of backs and they seem to be run-oriented. I am already seeing, if I were Mayfield, I would load the box and make the QB beat you with his arm. If I had to pick a weakness of Mayfield's defense, it would be stopping the run, so that plays into WV's favor. Poor tackling has also been an issue, and we are getting to the point where teams are good enough to make Mayfield pay for it.

WV defense is solid, but in the two games they got beat (LCA & Paintsville) the pass is what led to their demise. And the win against Glasgow was nice, but they couldn't throw the ball either. Mayfield has a very balanced offense, so stopping #6 is a good plan, but the QB can beat you with his arm. And Mayfield has about 3 or 4 receivers that can take it to the house on any given play.

I don't see this as an easy win for Mayfield. Any team left standing at this point is a good TEAM that has found a way to win no matter what. WV fits that bill, in that it might not be pretty but they get it done. I think if Mayfield stops the run they advance.

This does sound a whole lot like the Glasgow vs WV thread.

CONGRATS to WV !!!!!!!

Good for them.

Anything can happen.

Good luck and enjoy the experience

Mayfield has a lot of weapons. Speed everywhere, and well coached. Bearcats will be ready. Have to beat the guy in front of you and see what happens. Thanksgiving practice is something you will remember forever.

Mayfield 28-0.

Anybody know what the WV quarterback season stats are??

Glasgow and Mayfield aren't on the same planet to even draw a comparison. Murray had a huge upset in Owensboro only to come to Mayfield the following Friday and get train wrecked. I recall a couple of state final games of the past when the dust settled, teams that were the 1 or 2 loss big dogs up that way made statements after the state finals like "wow....we hadn't played anyone like Mayfield" so its hard to understand now because everyone likes to rest on a big win or their season record but it should come into focus Saturday.

As to the question of an 8 hour bus ride, No. A one hour bus ride the day of.

Glasgow is NOWHERE near the beast that Mayfield is. The two are not in the same universe.
