November 12, 20187 yr This really makes me happy. I was never thrilled about him coming back when he did, but he probably was the best coach available at the time. Either way, Jurich should have never given him the pay that he did, but that’s water under the bridge and they have things figured out. He was only rehired because he and Jurich are great friends/Montana boys. No one else (at a Power 5 program) would have ever given him that kind of money, so he definitely outbid himself. Brent Venables would have been a better option (and will be for this year). Thankfully AD Tyra is able to get a fresh start with both major programs. Also, glad the nepotism is done on the coaching staff. That was an absolute joke to the program to have those three on the staff.
November 12, 20187 yr Brohm is the guy and I’m on record saying that unless he gets pulled away from UL by a big time program, he will be the coach next year. But let’s say for instance he does get pulled to a USC, I would definitely look at Neal Brown from Troy. It won’t be long before he’s the guy at a P5 job so it might as well be UL.

November 12, 20187 yr Brohm did a good job at WKU, good enough to get him hired by Purdue. Brohm's record at WKU is as good as Brown's at Troy. So why would Brown be a better choice than Brohm?

He went 7-6, 4-5 last year and is currently 5-5, 4-3 and just got smoked by an awful Minnesota team. I agree you aren't going to win a title at Purdue but everyone is acting like Brohm is the hottest thing out there. I just don't see it. I don't see anyone putting Stoops in that same category and his resume at UK is similar. I would argue Purdue is easier to win than UK. Tiller had a nice run there.

Purdue is one of the 4-5 worst power 5 jobs in the country. Historically on the same level as Rutgers, Kansas, Oregon State, etc. comparing a coach at Purdue to a coach at UK is crazy.
