Sounds like alot of SC's problems were self inflicted in the second half. They had 3-personal foul penalties in one series while Henry Clay was driving.

The biggest difference in my opinion was speed. Henry Clay hit big play after big play and Scott Co. had no answer last night. I am very interested to see what adjustments are made for next week and in the future for SC.

Looks like the issue was Scott County’s defense giving up 51 pts.

The Lexington schools should be very familiar with the wing t that Scott County runs they play against it from freshman up every year. Having a lead late in the game helps forcing SC to be more reliant on the pass.

JC runs Belly which is different than the wing-t Belly play. They do run a very physical down hill run game with a few similarities to the wing-t belly play. One thing JC is excellent at is getting their line up to second level quickly. They do a great job of syncing the RBs with their OL.

 

I believe there is history between the Henry Clay HC and the Scott Co HC. The Henry Clay HC’s son coached in the Scott Co MS (Royal Spring) for a number of years before joining his father at Henry Clay.

 

I am not saying there is any annomosity between the coaches. I’m just saying there is a level of familiarity between the two staffs.

I really like the Van Horn Qb for Henry Clay. I was kind of upset that Southwestern seemed to ease up and let Henry Clay stay in the game when I watched them play but maybe Henry Clay had more to do with that than Southwestern letting up. Henry Clay has a lot of talent and has played a tough schedule but this score is puzzling.
