Well, Happy... .don't expect a call from the RedBirds next year asking you to fill a slot on their schedule. Nice work... even if you did come 3 pts short of a victory.

I agree. No is calling for this UofL team to be world beaters at the start. Georgetown didn't look like a NAIA team with 5 former D-1 players on it and they played to win last night. I as a Cardinal fan never really thought we would lose this game, when we needed to score they couldn't stop us, however on the flip side we didn't play defense worth a hoot. I blame his on team chemistry on the defensive side, lack of experianced players, and the other team (other teams can actually make plays).

 

A lot of players got experiance, close game experiance, that boosts confidance in thier ability. I have not problem with winning every game by two.

I dont believe this game at all tells us anything about how good UL will be this year. Does the team have question marks? Yes. But they do have an athletic team and are very well coached.

I think the biggest weakness for the team is in the backcourt. Smith and Sosa are going to have to grow up quickly and contribute, much like UK is dependent upon freshmen as well.

I'm certainly not trying to "bash" the Cards, but had UK won by 2 over an NAIA team there's not a chance I would call it a "good win".

 

And 2... you think people are going after UL basketball because "they got nothing on our football team"... some need to get over themselves.

Well it certainly has nothing to do with football. I guarantee had UK beat Gtown by 2 there would be certain UK fans very upset and wouldn't be surprised to see the "UK is in for a long season" from one of our own.

And UK fans are also highly irrational...

T-Will didn't score a lot because Pitino didn't want him to shoot a lot. He wanted T-Will to run the floor and find open guys. There were 6 players with more than 20 minutes, and 3 were freshmen. It was fun to watch the young guys mesh in on offense, but the whole team needs to get better on defense. And that will come. All in all, I'm fairly happy with last night.

Just the nature of the beast...

Not a UL fan, as most of you know, but this was an exhibition game. UL needed to find out their weaknesses and I am sure Gtown exposed some of them. Gtown, if I am not mistaken, has 9 D1 Transfers. They are better than probably 30-35% of the NCAA D1 teams. Same for the Cats tonight. It is an exhibition. If the Cats don't win by 40+, the sky will not be falling. Tubby will mix and match and work on some things, just like Ricky P probably did last night.
