I usually agree with your posts, and I know your son played ball for Boyle and you’re usually a Boyle fan but sometimes we don’t agree, and you don’t seem to high on Boyle at this point in the season what makes you doubt them ? Why do you think Frederick Douglass is so much better than Boyle have you seen Frederick Douglass play this season?

Wait, so because I think Boyle County is the 6th or 7th best team, at worst, overall in the state that means I am not high on them and that means I doubt them? Okay.

 

I always try to be as unbiased as I can when I make my posts. Just because I have ties to Boyle County doesn’t mean I am automatically going to pick them over other schools when it is debatable as to which team is better.

 

I think Freddy D is better than Boyle County but there isn’t much separation at all. I haven’t seen them play but this is what I do know about them. Their QB is a D-1 QB. He’s got great size and he is a legit QB. He’s completing over 70% of his passes and throwing for almost 300 yards a game. He threw for 421 yards in his last game. Demarco Fishback is looking to be one of the best players in the state that no one is talking about. Kid is scoring 3 TDs a game and he can run it in and he can catch it out of the backfield in score. His mixture of versatility and athleticism is a problem for most teams. Montaveon Bean is also an outstanding athlete who plays WR now but was their QB last year so you have yet another versatile athlete on the team. I haven’t even mentioned their other WRs who have also been doing just fine for Freddy D. I know their offensive line is anchored by 4 Star Junior Walker Parks who is holding offers from Clemson, Notre Dame, UL and UK just to name a few so I am speculating that their offensive line is legit and likely better than Boyle County’s. And being that they are a 6A school they don’t have many, if any players playing on both sides of the ball. Add all of that into the equation along with me feeling like they are much better than Ballard and my gut says they just might be better than Boyle County. There’s no shame in being the best in the state of the small school classes. A 3A school easily in the top 10 overall in the state and arguably in the top 5 overall but I am not high on them? Come on, Jack. I could understand if I said they weren’t a top 10 school. Me debating on whether or not they are #5 or #6 in the state shouldn’t be taken as a slight at all.

 

And for the record I made the post saying “I like your style” because the poster left out CovCath in his top 5. Not because he had two BG teams in it. Hell, BG fans have been giving me crap because I say South Warren is better than them and will win state. :lol2: :lol2:

I do agree there. Every game Freddy D has played has been a running clock and I feel pretty good saying that Boyle County would have done the same. They both put a running clock on Wayne County.

Looks like Male, Scott County and Trinity need to step their schedule up and play Francis de Sales like the best team in the state CovCath did. They had the best team in the state tied at the half. Hope they pull it out against what has to be one of the best teams in the state of Ohio. And we all know how strong Ohio football is. Good luck Colonels!!!!! Represent!!!!!

Good analysis but why dignify this comment? He's just salty over the rankings. The only goal in mind as a fan of this team is to get that 8th title. CovCath's goal for the past decade to be a state contender has been completed and if were ranked below some 6A teams after those titles then so be it.

Male, Scott County, Trinity, CovCath and I chose Freddy D as my #5 and have entertained arguments from Boyle County fans who say Boyle County is better than Freddy D and I also stated that South Warren has an argument as well. Since I have Freddy D as #5 I lean with South Warren at #6 and Boyle County at #7.

 

And yes, there will always be homers on this board. I get flack for not being a homer. Boyle folks question my loyalty to them because I don’t have them in the top 5 and BG folks question my loyalty to them because I think South Warren is better than them this year. And yes, I think CovCath and South Warren are evenly matched this year as I predicted for South Warren to win 5A in July. They are pretty good this year but their schedule doesn’t give me a good way to have a good debate about it. We’ll just have to wait for the playoffs and see what happens. I can’t give an informed debate as to why I think South Warren will win 5A anymore than a CovCath homer can tell me why they are the best team in the state.

 

If I felt that there was a good argument for CovCath to be #1 in the state I’d not only listen to it but if it was a good enough argument I’d agree. I don’t have any beef with CovCath but I can’t come up with anything to convince me they are the best team in the state. Not yet anyways. They are easily top 5. Arguably top 3.

Because CDub knows there is a great discussion to be had somewhere down that wormhole. And yes, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being the 3rd or 4th best team in state if you are accomplishing all of your goals. That’s the only mission. Accomplish all goals set as a team.

Agreed. Corbin and Boyle County seem close to matched up so if Boyle County is in the discussion then Mayfield deserves a spot in that discussion as well.

This CovCath homer has made an argument many times. My argument is partly that the Colonels are the top ranked team in almost all of the computer rankings. We are 6 games into the season now, so those are getting pretty reliable now. There is also history and momentum on the side of the program right now. 21 straight wins and a state championship in the pocket. Cincinnati television station WKRC ranks the high school football teams each week in its viewing area. CovCath is ranked 2nd behind Colerain, but ahead of GCL teams St. X, Moeller, LaSalle, and Elder. That's the same LaSalle team that throttled Scott County. That's another data point in favor of the Colonels.

 

Since CovCath doesn't play Trinity, Male, or Scott County the point of who is better is moot. But they are more than arguably top 3. They are arguably top 1.
