Cannabis Treats ADHD Better than Adderall according to small Study

It shows the importance of educating ourselves on the facts, particularly when we have a strong stance. My original stance was based on preconceived ideas, without much actual knowledge.

I agree on the criminal-mindedness. What was the real reason for making it a Schedule 1 drug?

Suggesting Heroin and Marijuana are even in the same Universe is silly.

A couple of reasons that come to mind. Initially it was pressure from border states because it was something that was common among Mexican workers, and in our "enlightened" minds of the time it was assumed to be a moral failings and caused social ills. Much like how the Temperance League villianized all alcohol consumption. Hence the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937, though it didn't make it illegal per se it made it de facto illegal. In order to posses and sell it you needed a special tax stamp but in order to get said tax stamp you needed to have it in your possession. A nominal number of tax stamps were "issued" but never given out. This is because even back then it was not popular to ban any substance, the public wasn't inclined to go along with it. Fast forward to the 1960s the law was overturned by the SCOTUS as unconstitutional per the 5th Amendment. However given its popularity with the beatniks and hippies and the counterculture in general it was made a scapegoat by the "law and order" crowd. So public support was finally behind the idea of banning substances hence the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 which codified what was Schedule I.

That's just a very very basic rundown.

You should be allow to drink (alcohol be legal) but it should be illegal to drive if your BA is over .08. Does that make it clearer for you? The question was reversed.

No. You have thoroughly confused me. :lol2:

I'm all for legalization on all counts, but the troubling thing for me, though it's already happening, is the increase in irresponsible people driving stoned, and on top of that texting too. I've been noticing more and more people driving erratically, and though I can't say weather it's substance or texting related, there's no doubt that there's a disturbing upswing in driving distractions, and whereas I was once skeptical about them, it's starting to make me think that properly functioning dependable self-driving cars can't get here soon enough.

I could be wrong but I am sure they are capable of making cannabis based medicines that won’t get you high. There’s clearly no real reason at all why medical marijuana isn’t readily available nationwide.

Absolutely. My parents, who live in Colorado, use a cannabis-based ointment for arthritis. Now, they won't go buy it themselves. They have a friend of my brother's that goes and buys if for them. We tease them, asking them if their "dealer" has the goods. Use of the ointment certainly doesn't make either of them high. My stepmom is a no nonsense kind of gal. I'm sure that I could tell. :lol2:

I don't see where your bold point is any different for Pot than it is for Alcohol.

How much pot is too much pot? The state has drawn the line at .08 for alcohol. Only issue is no standard that the government agrees upon for weed.

I was drinking but I wasn't blindfolded at all the parties I attended in past days.

And? What does that change? Yes there are more people driving drunk that don't get caught but that number could be 100 just as easy as it could be 20,000,000.

The # he spit out is assumption, the FACT is though many more drunk drivers don't get pulled over than do. Now exactly how many that # is is debateable.

Which is why I said I will only work with facts. The number of those drinking and driving that don't get caught is what? Neither of us can say with certainty.

How is it handled today? It's illegal to driver under the influence today so how is making pot legal change anything?

I don't think people understand what is needed for something to be a FACT.

But also equating the number of dui arrests to the number of drunk drivers is nowhere near acurate. Yes we don't know the numbers, but it's very easy to believe the number is extremely high.

I don't think people understand what is needed for something to be a FACT.

Fact: There are far more drunk drivers every year than the number that is actually caught by law enforcement.

It might be a fact. Provide your evidence.

I'm not even really sure what you're arguing. "Could be" is a little different than "I know for a fact."

They 100% can do that and the already do.

Yes, but driving over .08 should not be.

Wait! What? You think alcohol should be illegal? Neither weed or alcohol should be illegal IMO, but weed is less problematic than alcohol and that's coming from someone who doesn't use weed but does alcohol.
