One thing has been made very clear - no one cares about the character of the President. Bill Clinton was blasted for his character issues and won two elections. Donald Trump's character flaws were on full display during his election and he was elected. I think Trump wins again the next election.

 

People care about policy. Whoever they believe can put their policy choices into action, they will vote for. Conservative Christians love Trump's Supreme Court pick. That actually may have been the number one campaign promise that helped Trump win the last election and he can play that again in the next election. Trump himself said during the election he could shoot someone in the middle of the street and still get elected and he is probably right. If Trump promotes policies the right likes, even the conservative Christians will overlook his character.

 

No conservative Christian will vote Democrat based on current platform. Fact. Trump needs Jesus, but unless the Dems change the platform I will vote for whoever the Rs run again and again and again. Im like McPapa its a sad situation and I think we all can agree on that.

It's telling when someone says the UK and USA led the way in something but it is reworded by others to say that the USA didn't lead the way. Well that was never said to begin with but let's not let that get in the way of an agenda lol.

 

I didn't participate much in political threads much when the forum was open. But I found this one interesting because it's an April's fool's thread. Yet so many people are being so serious. Why so serious, says the Joker.

 

Anyway, even if this wasn't an intentional experiment by theguru, I still learned something tonight.

It is a terribly sad situation all the way around. Until there is some sort of revolution in politics (Perhaps a true division/Seperation) of corporate involvement, the complete restructure of term limits at the House and Senate Level, and Policies that work to effect all people. We are not going to see change, and I am afraid that 2020 will make 2016 look like a snoozefest.

I agree. Your original post said the US led the way. That is what I was pointing out as incorrect. Several other countries responded before the US did.

No one has called another a name yet or personally attacked someone....getting along well. Still though I've not seen any independent plans to get us a new 3rd party to lead us out. Our past has had several different parties...dems and reps haven't always been in control. Maybe we need something new to take us in a new direction or are we too divided. Seems like the last few presidential elections have been close to 50/50.

I like it when things can be discussed and everyone remain civil, even if some things are misconstrued or not agreed upon. That said, I wouldn't open up the political form just yet hah. It's been a bit more ivil here ever since it closed.

You really think so? I just don't see how. I was flabbergasted he won the last election, and that unique cocktail of circumstances seems unlikely to happen again. The Supreme Court issue was an urgent one, and one that many pinched their nose about. He'd need that type of issue to come up again too.

Different thought processes I imagine. The UK is one of our biggest allies. To think that they didn't consult the US to hear out thoughts and possible actions prior to displacing the diplomats themselves is naive. As soon as the UK made their decision it was mentioned that the USA was likely to do the same. Had we told the UK that we wouldn't for instance, they likely would have held off themselves.

 

They needed us to back them with on this. Once they knew we would they went ahead with it, knowing we would follow suit. Over the weekend the US and UK were likely in constant talks with the other countries that expelled diplomats as well, which in turn followed suit.

 

So what I'm saying is that it was the UK's baby, but don't think the USA didn't have their hand in it as well.
