I work part-time in a liquor store as a second job.

 

I haven't been doing it very long, but the people watching is pure entertainment.

I've driven my own car through all 48 contiguous states.

 

That's on my bucket list. So far I'm at 35. Probably won't get a chance to knock out the final ones out west until the kids are out of the house.

I've been in the Metallica fan club since 1996. Seen them 12 times in concert. Been backstage twice. Would say that I have over 40 Metallica t-shirts.

A future NFL linebacker broke my nose in grade school because I accidentally spilled his milk. It was Bob Crable...St. Vincent Ferrer, Moeller H.S., Notre Dame, N.J. Jets.

 

The Moeller H.S. and Notre Dame football coach Gerry Faust punched me in the chest because I was propelling spit wads off the H-key of my new (at that time) IBM Selectric typewriter in his typing class. I think I finally was able to breathe about 5 minutes later. Times were different back then.

 

On a positive note, my best friend in high school was the late Harry Oliver (at Moeller). He went off to Notre Dame as well. When he came to the Cincinnati area on break, I used to hold for him as he practiced placekicking. He is most famous for his 51-yard FG to beat Michigan with no time on the clock in 1980.

Every company I have ever worked for going all the way back thru High school is out of business. Pretty much spells doom for the current company!

That said, for anyone with a reasonable amount of knowledge about alternative music, I once got Ben Folds to go to the Anchor Grill in Covington with me. Bought him goetta.

 

For the Americana/country music folks out there, I also have hung out with Jason Isbell on numerous occasions - mostly before he went on the wagon. Pretty interesting nights, ha.

My first paying job (not tobacco or hay) was selling Makita power tools. I cannot use any of them except a drill/screwdriver.

I have never and will never play a sport of any sort. In fact, I my be the most unathletic person born. As an example I tripped over a crack in the sidewalk while merely walking, fell and took a chunk out of my forehead, broke my nose and blacked both eyes. A few years later, while running laps in the gym in PE class, I got my feet tangled up with those of the girl running next to me and she fell and broke her arm. That’s only one example... more can be provided of more evidence is needed.

I've been close a couple of times (within a foot). I've also not holed many shots out over 40 yards. I one hopped a 60 yarder into the hole once. My other hole out was a much better story. I holed my second shot from 250 yards on a par five about 20 years ago. The problem was my first shot went in the water, so I only ended up with an Eagle.

Haha yeah that’s a pretty good story.

In middle school I was on a traveling team called the Rockers and we ended up playing against a team from far off that had Jake Peavy as their pitcher. I struck out the first two times up on 7 pitches. The third time I grounded a ball to right field for a single and the fourth time I fouled out to the catcher.

 

Barry Bonds' career average against Jake Peavey is .242 so clearly I am a better hitter than Barry Bonds.

I've been with my wife since I was a sophomore in high school... 14 years ago. She was a freshman. We haven't had an argument in the last 11 years. We have the occasional disagreement, but it doesn't escalate.

 

I'm extremely passionate about music. I used to play drums, but moved in to an apartment where the noise would never fly. Sold my set, and would love to have it back.

 

I have an older sister and two younger brothers.

I graduated from high school in Maryland. Among my graduating class (of 649) were three Mikes - all friends from junior high school. One is one of the nation's foremost religious scholars, one was the press secretary to the Governor of Maryland, and one was a classically trained pianist who attended the Peabody Institute in Baltimore.
