Just like they weren't supposed to beat them this time, right??? Frankfort flat out dominated this game, and showed Danville is not as good as everyone talks them up to be...WHEN Frankfort wins the 2nd Round game, I'll be here to serve you your crow. :thumb:

 

I never said Danville would win tonight. I felt like Danville would play somewhat conservatively, knowing that they likely would see Frankfort again on November 10. Danville didn't play their best game and I believe they will in the playoffs.

 

I'm in no way knocking Frankfort or the game they played tonight. I just don't think they have the ability to do it again in a couple weeks. Plus, we've seem the Frankfort's of the last couple years come up small in the postseason. I know this isn't the same team, but I have to see November-proof before I place all my eggs in their basket. I've seen Danville prove it; now its Frankfort's turn.

Hal Mumme didn't win a whole lot of games at UK, but they got a lot of yards and scored a lot of points. The defense was his trouble.

 

Why more teams don't recognize that a short passing game can put tons of points on the board, I'll never understand. Plus, it makes for easier throws for your quarterback. (Remember, for every Brohm, Couch, etc., there are about 200 "average" high school quarterbacks in Kentucky).

 

A team like Danville, stacked with athletes, needs to get the short passes to their speedy backs and receivers and then let them make hay. A seven yard slant brings up 2nd & 3. A deep bomb usually yields nothing.

I agree with you! I hear that the Ads are going to forfeit the game because they have no chance of beating Frankfort This year!:scared:

In some ways I agree with you but some not. No doubt Frankfort will still have their speed in 3 weeks. And the game will be in Frankfort again which is a given. However, the Ads do have the week off in which to heal and get a few of their key players back in the lineup. Also, although I have been critical of Harp on occasion, he is very skillful when it comes to making adjustments that can have a meaningful effect on the outcome of a game. I'll still give the edge to Frankfort, but I have a feeling the next game (if it materializes) will be a very competitive contest.

Good point. I'm not sure I've ever seen a team lose to a team in the regular season and then come back and beat them in the playoffs. Frankfort can probably hold off on the start of basketball season for several weeks...no way Danville can handle them.

I'll be honest, I was not impressed with Danville at all tonight. I thought Frankfort was more disciplined (getting the Ads to commit penalties and TO's at the right time), more skilled, faster, and more athletic. I got to the game in the middle of the 1st quarter once the score was already 7-6...but I didn't see Danville hardly even move the ball until 4 minutes to go in the game. Frankfort totally dominated them and if they can continue to play like they did tonight, I think they will be playing in Louisville.

Great job Panthers. Save me a piece of that crow, deep fried with gravey. Now Frankfort has to stay focused and do it again in a few weeks. The Fields kid is a great kid and when he gets the corner I don't care what team is chasing him they ain't gonna catch him.

Be realistic...My point wasn't that Danville had no chance to beat Frankfort. My point was that based on last night, one would be led to think that if the two were to meet again, a similar outcome probably wouldn't be out of the question. Frankfort may not win by 20 points again, but I still say they win.

The way we are playing down here in western Kentucky save us a seat in the casual observer section this year...as we have stunk it up the last few weeks.

 

Congrats to Frankfort on a very big win over the ADS....impressive score that is making waves all across the state. As someone who was not at the game or have kept up with injuries...were both teams relatively healthy tonight in the matchup...and a second question and I am just throwing it out there so please do not rip my head off...with a possible 2nd round match-up in a few weeks...any thought that maybe the ADS did not show much as far as offensive and defensive schemes and formations that they might use down the line...or was it just that Danville got beat by a better team Friday night...

Congrats to the Panthers. They payed great defense and won the filed position and the tunrover battle. They where focussed and wanted the victory. O-line did a good job of getting off the ball.

 

As for the second round of the playoffs frankfort needs to worry about Trimble County next week and then worry about the 1st round game.

 

Danville may not have played their best tonight but I think Frankfort played a roll in that. If there is a second round game I know the Panthers will have to play their "A" game to win. The AD's are to good not to make adjustments.

I've noticed this throughout high school football. I think you could have a great deal of success running slants, but it seems like coaches only want to throw it deep (with limited success), or keep it on the ground.
