January 25, 20188 yr Louisville will lose it's 2013 national championship and will be fined $15 MIL Per Dan Dakich
January 25, 20188 yr Dakich is reporting what everyone knows is going to happen (lose the title), so he can say "I told you so." His "source" was someone who talked to "someone in the room." Okay. If the $15mil number is correct, that is WAY off from what UofL calculated they would have to return.
January 25, 20188 yr Stripping titles and banners means nothing to me. So dumb. They will always be the title winners in 2013 to me and history will remember them for it. If schools are to be punished, I would rather see more harsh monetary penalties as opposed to scholarship reductions or bans from the tournament that does nothing but punish kids who were not there. Agree on all points.

I can understand that thinking, but how would you punish a team like Texas Football...they have all the cash in the world and would just pay the yearly fines if they could keep on winning. At some point you have to go after the offending program or schools would just pay fines and keep on playing and breaking the rules as if nothing ever happened. The good thing is I believe the NCAA allows players to transfer freely if their school gets major penalties, that way the players that did nothing have a chance to move on and not be punished for the actions of others before them. In the end the only people really punished are the fans. Coaches can get another job, players can transfer, high roller donors will help pay penalties...but it's the fans that get left with a destroyed program.
January 25, 20188 yr Will the NCAA be in existence in 10 years? It will depend on what the Power 5 Conferences decide to do...they easily could break away at any time.

I agree. I like post season bans though and think that is a great punishment. However let any and all players transfer freely if a post season ban happens to their team. Or delay the post season ban to like 4 years later. To guarntee all players in program and don't get punished for past things. This way if a player would still decide to go to Louisville they know ahead of time their is no post season. So that would kill recruiting for them anyways. So basically it would set them back many years and kill recruiting for years.

To me it does mean something. Would UL have that title if they didn't cheat?

I hate postseason bans and stripping titles is asinine. Punishing kids who weren’t there when the rules were broken is asinine.
January 25, 20188 yr What cheating did they do that gave them an advantage to win the title? Sorry, my comment said UL but was more in general. Let's say Cal paid Anthony Davis to come to UK, other wise he wouldn't have come. If that came don't you think UK should lose that title? It's no different than stripping an Olympic athlete of their gold for PED's. They would not have won it with out cheating. Why should they get to keep it. And I sure won't recognize them as the champ if they cheated.
January 25, 20188 yr Isn't this about the strippers in the dorm rooms? The only cheating done was by some players on their girlfriends!
January 25, 20188 yr What cheating did they do that gave them an advantage to win the title? Used strippers/prostitutes to recruit players and parents. Provided extra benefits to some current players (Strippers/Prostitutes). If a player comes to a school and the school gives them a car after they get there to keep them happy, wouldn't that count as cheating? Car=Prostitute as far as extra benefits go. Without those players, they never win the title.
