I hate shopping in super packed stores, regardless of which name is above their door. I've never been to a Sams or Costco that wasn't packed.

With the impending weather, the local Kroger was packed last night. Good thing that I chose Click List! Done in five minutes.

I went to Fresh Thyme. My Kroger had no parking spots available, and even on a non-weather day they are wiped out of produce, which was the !majority of what I wanted to buy. I figured Click List would just yield a bunch of stuff they couldn't fulfill. So, I just went ahead and went over to FT which means I bought more stuff than I planned, but all of it is awesome!

Far superior to Sams Club.

That is exactly what I hear from so many people.

In the past I have shopped at both places, I like them both but I definitely like Costco better.

Never been to Costco, there isn't one local.

Costco kept avoiding Lexington for years since the population statistics did not fit their model. This even though Walmart had 2 Sam's Clubs in the area. There is a video of the CostCo CEO saying 'quite asking me when we are going to build in Lexington' on a stage.

Since they finally did build a CostCo in Lexington I almost expected to see the Nicholasville Sam's on the hit list. Glad it was not.

Demographics for Costco consumer is much different than the Sams consumer.

That sounds like advance notice.

True, lol, but you know what I mean. In fairness, it sounds like they are paying staff for an extra 45 days after closure, and management staff another month thereafter. No good way to ever break this news to employees, even if they’d planned it for months.

There is another Sam’s locally.... doubt I hit it up. Costco is a few extra miles down the interstate, but it’s where I will probably now go.

I was a member of Sams and dropped the membership after Costco opened up and I joined. My team calls on Costco so it intrigued me. The in/out hard good options at Costco are much better. I like food shopping at Sams better. Mostly because of the portions now that the nest is mostly empty.

Agree as far as Costco goes, but I maintain a BJs membership because the annual fee is so low and their meat and poultry is better than Costco. They also have a few other food items that Costco doesn't. Both are close to my home, too, where Sam's Club is bit out of the way.

Costco wants to make their money on memberships alone. If you cant offer the customer a great deal to make them come back you are out as a vendor.

That equates to a good deal if you shop often. Never been to BJ’s. Heard they are pretty good yet dated.

Is it worth the double price of membership to get the Gold Star Executive Membership at Costco over the Gold Star membership?

Yes, if you don’t use the dollar amount you get the money back.

I have been a Sams Club member for over 20 years. I joined Costco years ago when they only had 1 Louisville location, but didn’t renew it was too far away and inconvenient to shop at for me living near Shively/Iroquois area. I will be joining again since they built one in the old Showcase Cinemas location over a year ago. I have already shopped there using my parents card. That location opening seems to have hurt the Preston Hwy Sams location it’s still busy but seems about 2/3 of Business before Costco opened on Bardstown Rd. My stepfather is retired and had been working as a part time sampler at Sams on Preston then went to Costco on Bardstown when it opened. He has since left and now works at Kroger. He actually prefers to shop at Sams over Costco. He loves a few key products that he has been buying for decades at Sams.

Walmart also announced that 1000 jobs in the home office would be eliminated and 3500 Co-Managers in the stores would be eliminated, stores with 4 will go to 2, stores with 2 will go to 1 and most stores with 1 will go to 0. 1800 Assistant Manager positions will be added and I'd expect most of those to initially be filled by some of the displaced Co-Managers.

Co-Mangers will be given either 30 or 60 days to find another job in the company or will be offered a severance package.
