Sheppard, Edwards, Mohammed, Magloire, Padgett, Turner, Evans, Bradley, Mills, etc. Alot of those guys saw and are still seeing NBA time. The program was considered by most to be at the top along with Duke at that time.

The program was considered by most to be at the top along with Duke at that time. And of all these kids, only Sheppard and Turner were top 100 recruits..Edwards was lightly recruited, Mohammed and Magloire were both considered projects, Evans was a Juco transfer and Mills was a walkon that later earned a scholarship and Padgett was close to a Top 100 but not quite... I have to agree that the cupboard wasn't bare but not exactly what I'd consider great either...Padgett, Magloire and Mohammed are the only ones playing in the NBA and each were suspect to ever get to that level out of High school..Tubby did a great job developing them.

I thought Edwards was a good recruit out of high school (Florida maybe?) but never really panned out to be a superstar... solid, but never great. Heshimu Evans transferred from Manhatten.

The program Tubby took over was the best in the country with, like previously said, nowhere to go but down. The team he won the championship with had Rick's players, and pretty darn good players at that. If coached right, the freshman class with Rondo and gang would be contending for National Championship this year and next. Problems somehow have a tendency of disappearing when your team is winning (referring to the Rondo being more of a problem than a solution).

As long as Patterson doesn't go visit Wake or West Virginia we should be good, since he said only reason he would have "is if Kentucky didn't go well." Also heard the Patterson and Lucas families have become friends. If we get them both along with the 2006 recruiting class. We are in good shape. Barnes is also set to announce 10/19.

Coming off of two straight national championship appearances and losing at the time the best coach in the country, the 98 team was ranked around #20 in the pre-season. Ron Mercer, Derek Anderson, Anthony Epps and so on were all gone from the previous team. As far as straight talent goes, the 98 team was maybe in the Top 10 in the country.

I again must say that even though this year's freshman were only ranked #16 by Rivals.com they are a pretty good bunch of players and look like they can step in and play now. I will trust Tubby Smith and his 350+ wins on what type of style of play is best for his teams, not some guy who posts on this board.

Patterson told Stewart over the weekend that he was down to UK and Florida. Whether or not he actually takes another visit we'll have to wait an see but even if he does UK fans shouldnt worry bout it.

Tubby didn't develop Padgett, Mills, Turner, or Mohammed. They were already developed. He did add Saul to the mix however. OK, I said it was the top program in the country at the time not the #1 rated team in the preseason. When you go to two straight championship games your on top. Add to that the fact that UK was #1 in merchandise sales and based on surveys the most popular program in the country.
