Let's be reasonable. UNC, UK, D__e, UCLA and a few others are the all time elite. It's well known nation wide, and kids from far and wide grow up as fans. When Tubby was hired, there was one program in that mold that fit the bill. In that situation it goes one of two ways. You can't get "better", but you can get worse...

Sounds like Chris Barnes will be pulling the trigger for UK as well.

If PP verbals then that will bring Lucas as well.

It is between UK and Florida for Patterson. Duke seems to be out. His father's comments have swung directly in UK's favor.

I'm fine with the fact that this kid isn't a top 20 ranked player. It seems like Tubby's best teams have been those without the prima dona players. Guys like Hawkins, Fitch, and Daniels, weren't highly rated but Tubby seems to get good results with that type of team. Sure the post season hasn't gone as well as we would like, but when you have a #1 overall seeded team in the tournament, it is hard to legitametely find fault with Tubby's coaching.

I'd say a majority of this site has been in favor of this FROSH class. I'd be surprised if Meeks/Jasper/Porter/Stevenson were talked about in a negative light in two years...

I'm not going to go back and look for threads, but it seems to me that many were outraged by the Porter offer, and Stevenson is to frail to play in the SEC. I agree with you that I doubt UK fans will be negative on these guys in a couple of years, but several have certainly voiced their doubts during the recruiting season last year. Even Meeks and Japer aren't ranked high enough to appease some, just ask Farmhands. :laugh:

 

I recall some negativity towards, this years first verbal Mike Williams(?), and I doubt anyone has even seen him play.

:thumb: I agree strike, this freshman class appears to be very good but untill we see them on the court in major college b.b. we will not know. I think that opinions were pretty split in this years class and like you I am not going back to look it up. Probably a lot of those that were trashing it are members of the now infamous 18%.

Hey this is a good solid commitment for UK. Hopefully we can land the other 2 guys in the up and coming weeks. I really think its down to UK and Florida for Patterson.

I do believe this staff has struggled with recruiting and simply hasn't done as good as what a UK coaching staff should. But I believe Coach Smith did everything he could do this weekend and provided the recruits with an amazing experience.
