January 6, 20188 yr Its like we have re-winded the clock back in time, same conversations, same posters, saying the same things, just missing his two biggest "Supporters/overhypers" Drew went to a couple camps, did well, got noticed from it. Happens to a lot of kids, specifically QB's. Was given a shot at UK and failed to really do anything and take advantage of the situation, it happens. Obviously hes done well in the classroom to graduate and be able to direct transfer, good for him. Probably should land at a FCS mid teir school to fill in for a year to develop a younger QB.
January 6, 20188 yr I can't remember a Kentucky kid, who came to UK, get as slammed and hated on as Barker. I hope he goes somewhere that fits him and has great success. You must have a very short memory. Patrick Towles?
January 6, 20188 yr You must have a very short memory. Patrick Towles? Not even close. Pat had lots of fans and supporters.
January 6, 20188 yr You must have a very short memory. Patrick Towles? Not even close. Pat had lots of fans and supporters. Towles got bashed a lot to like Barker. A lot of people wanted Towles bench for Barker. Towles was a career 50% passer so he had lots of critics too. Both nky UK qbs definitely haven't it had it easy at UK.
January 7, 20188 yr Towles got bashed a lot to like Barker. A lot of people wanted Towles bench for Barker. Towles was a career 50% passer so he had lots of critics too. Both nky UK qbs definitely haven't it had it easy at UK. Critics of performance is entirely different then the character attacks that Barker has gotten. Look, I'm unbiased. I hoped PT would succeed. I also hoped that DB would succeed. So as someone with no ties to either. Other than being a UK fan. There was a secter of people on here that flat out hated DB from day one, and they never relenquished. PT was heralded from day one. Everyone hoped he would be the man. Then he turned out to be just ok, and people wanted to go a different dierection. That is entirely different.
January 7, 20188 yr Not even close. Pat had lots of fans and supporters. Jason Elam has taken a lot of flak for his performance.
January 7, 20188 yr Jason Elam has taken a lot of flak for his performance. I agree, but again it was preformace issues. People expected a lot more and were critical. A lot of times overly critical, but he was loved coming in.
January 7, 20188 yr Not even close. Pat had lots of fans and supporters. Maybe in Northern Kentucky, but not in the elsewhere. I know UK fans who absolutely despised him in his days at UK. I am not saying that was my opinion. I was indifferent and thought he was a big, physically talented kid who didn't always make quick/good decisions.
January 28, 20188 yr According to KSR, he is done playing football. What happened to him transfering? His he going to finish college?
January 28, 20188 yr From what I just read he is staying at UK to finish his master degree. Apparently, he graduated last May with a degree in "integrated strategic communication" and started working on a graduate degree in public finance last fall. I don't know what his undergraduate GPA was. However, if he academically met the requirements, his athletic scholarship could very well be replaced with an academic one for his graduate degree. Also, many schools pay stipends to graduate students to attend their universities and work on research for grants and such. The stipends aren't much, but they are much more than the stipends paid to student-athletes. They are usually at least big enough to finance living off campus. I don't know whether UK does this for his discipline, but he could get his graduate degree paid for and get paid to do so. In any case, he can take his education into a variety of paths including business management, finance, sales and marketing, and politics. Sounds like he has a good handle on things. Good for him. I wish him all the success in the world.
January 28, 20188 yr Sad to see him stop playing the game he loves but good on him for turning it into $125k free education.
