Congrats to Beechwood!

He kept the fire burning all the way to the end. Look forward to watching him next year.

This team has quite a few returning next season. The backfield of J. Adkins, Lacks and WR/DB /RB D. Adkins are Jrs. along with I think a few lineman will return as well. The QB next season was a Fresh. this year and is a good athlete. So, one never knows what will happen but Raceland may be alright going into 2018.

It's funny how we, in an attempt to keep things interesting and seemingly ignore the inevitable, create and maintain conversation throughout the season about not crowning someone as champion in the preseason because so-and-so is a real threat, and shouldn't be overlooked.

 

This year in 1A is a good example. Beechwood was the consensus #1 to start the year, and maintained that position all season long. Hazard was the consensus #2 early on, but injuries took their toll. Next, it was Paintsville, but they couldn't even get out of their own region. KCD was good, but not nearly good enough. Lastly, there was Raceland. Some of us tried to envision a scenario where Raceland could make it interesting, if not pull the upset.

 

But, in the end, it was something of a season long false narrative. Beechwood stands alone, just like we thought they would 15+ weeks ago.

 

Injuries kill seasons sometimes... Offensively the worst game the rams played.. I’d loved to seen Hazard and Beechwood again but hazard picked the worst time to have red zone troubles.. You can’t win games against good teams with 6-7 turnovers.

Well said. Sometimes the prognostication is wrong and we are right, but sometimes the teams are what they appear to be. This year, Beechwood was what it appeared to be - the best team in Class 1A.

I've always said, "it takes a certain amount of luck to make it to the Championship Game", and I stand by that. Did your team choose to have their worst game of the season in round two? Or did the injury bug hit in week 10? Or, did the fumble demon come to visit in round four? A have seen many teams that I know could have made it to the Championship Game, but something happened along the way to stop them.

Congrats to the Beechies. Left no doubt today.

I listened to the game on Kool Hits 105.7 out of Ashland, Ky. I thought the broadcasters (didn't catch their names) did a very nice job of calling the game. Even when the outcome was decided they remained positive about their team and complimentary of Beechwood.

Congrats Beechwood!

Congratulations to the Rams on their first trip to the title game and being state runner-up. A season to be proud of for sure.

 

Beechwood - what do you say after a performance like that? This team wanted to make a statement about how good they are and they did it today. They controlled the game against a very good opponent. Congratulations to the Tigers on an outstanding and memorable win to get title number 13.
