A lot of people make mistakes and if he has learned from them and has his life on track then I am for it. He maybe able to help the kids and talk to them about his experience and what he went through.

 

I see what you are saying. I agree with you, but from the perspective of Administrators, how horrible would it be if something like this happened again. Think of lawsuits, firings, and reputations.

 

I think it would be a big risk. I am happy to hear that he has put that lifestyle behind him and if he is able to find success professionally then it is a great thing.

I agree they would be taking a chance. I just hope that if its him that doesn't happen.

Justin is interested and has applied to the posted position. He has great rapport with the players and can deal with the parents. He has been a 3 season coach at CC and has the football acumen.

 

Justin would be a terrific hire for Newport. I didn't know he was interested, but you could not find someone with better character and passion for football. Justin and his brother Kip played as Newport Firefighters as well, so they are familiar with the program.

Any other grumblings or hear say of people interested? Or does it look like it might be between Schmitz and Mason?

While not trying to take away from anything he did, if you look he was only there for two years, during those two years he went 5-5, and 8-4 being beaten by NCC in the playoffs, but he had very good athletes on the team. Plus the year he took over the team they went from 41 players the previous year to 33 his first, to 39 his second with 10 of those being freshman. Idk it’s hard to judge someone being proven at a high level when you are winning with a team that was already established over only a two year period. Could he have continued to win and keep numbers consistent maybe but I think we need more than two years to say he was high level and proven. Just a thought.

Just to clarify so as not to appear I know something I was quoting another thread. Judas Priest said all those people asked him. I am not privy to that kind of info at Newport.

I think this is a great website for news, ideas, scores, and general information. That being said I have been on both sides of the interview table over the last 14 years. There have been times when I have looked over resumes and applications and compared them to names being thrown around on this website.

 

I would not consider our little family here as being entirely reliable when it comes to who is interested, been pursued, or even applied for a job.

 

So if someone is interested in this job, I hope they do not look at our posts here and think there is no sense in applying because another person is in line for the job. It is quite possible that we are all wrong in how we perceive this thing being played out. It is also possible that some of us are correct too.

I would say no. NewCath will probably get better quality applicants but I would t say it would cause an issue for Newport finding one.
