7 Officials

Featured Replies

I was at the Ballard-Trinity game Friday night and noticed there were 7officials on the field. When did they change from 5 officials? Has this been all year and I failed to notice?

Test run regular season games for playoffs. All playoff games will be 7 man crews this year I believe?

All the games I’ve been to, there were just 5. Not sure why you’d have 7 at a HS game?

I didn’t know this. Interesting to see how it will impact the games.

It’s not what you’d think (more officials=more flags); the one time I’ve seen it this year it was a really good officiated game.

I've been to 100's of games and Friday for the first time I saw 4 members of the crew line up 4 wide with each of them on a set of hash marks and then walk the length of the field. It almost looked like they were counting hash marks :lol2:

Maybe they always do this or just one guy does it, but I'd never noticed them doing it in this manner before.

I'm sure they probably do, but like I said I've never noticed it in all the games I've ever attended.

I know of a crew that has been fast tracking new officials and this has been for training purposes. Shortages have forced them to push them into service quickly and this is to aid in the training I believe.

I watched a game at Portland TN during fall break and they had 8 officials. The 8th official lined up right beside the line judge.

They are inspecting the field checking for holes, debris, etc.

Same. I've seen two games with seven officials this season. Both were high profile game, which means quality play, but I didn't notice any extra flags, etc.

There were 7 officials for Fairdale at Fern Creek, only 3 penalties. Fern Creek called for def holding and an illegal procedure, Fairdale called for facemask. Of course this was a running clock with 9:52 left in 2nd quarter.

The Corbin/Casey Co. game had a 7 man crew and it was a flag fest, which caused the game to have no flow and take forever to play.:irked:
