Agree, it will be like in 1969 at Clark County, they will get the chance and with the right draw in the tournament, they won't handle a semi-final game with the crowd, much less a championship game. It changed hands in '69, and Clark failed, so another 40th district team will get the chance and the tournament will be returned to the Fieldhouse the following year. Statewide, the 10th Region Tournament is like no other, and that is why spectators come from Ohio and even 16th region fans make their way as well. Montgomery County's gym looks great, enjoy!

As a member of the 10th region for the last 27 years and now a memeber of the 14th, we did not see much difference in the regional tournaments. Knott Co had a great facility and a great atmosphere last year. I have watched both regional tournaments (10th and 14th) over the years, not sure why so many in the 10th feel as though is so much more "mystical" than other regions. It seems that the mountains still have the most passion for basketball. IMO

They have 2 gyms that combined cost more than that.

Then why not spend 8.5 and make it as big as Mason County? Seriosuly that's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

School building construction for the most part is controled in Frankfort. There is this little process called educating students that is preferred expense of sites for regional tourneys. The fieldhouse was built in the old days. You probably would have a hard time getting it built today with the approval of Frankfort.

So the 8 million dollar 5000+ capacity is the max? I don't understand why they couldn't have built it to hold another 1000 people. They could have held fundraisers and taken donations to make the gym slightly larger. If they weren't building the gym for the regional tournament then why build it at all?

There is no number. I never gave a number I guessed. However both gyms are nice and both are big. I'd have to imagine the "appraisal" would be pretty high. CCMS used to hold the 9th region and I've been there when it was packed.

I understand. Clark always has a great following, but if it was held at Mongtomery...(20 minutes away compared to 1 1/2 hours to Mason) we would have even more fans there...especially if the game is on a school night. We wouldn't have to charter 3 greyhounds either...and could take pep busses, something at Mason we can't do if we play the early game.

I can't wait to see the gym in person. From what I have seen, I think it would be a complete shame if that don't host the 10th at least once!

Just like Mason did in 83 and 86 when Clark won the title at the Fieldhouse. Guarantee you if you were at the game you didn't leave the Fieldhouse saying Mason had the homecourt advantage...no all anyone is thinking after winning a title was we were the better team, and already thinking of getting back to their schools and celebrating and making ticket preparation for the Sweet 16. The fact of where the game is played is the furthest thing from anyones mind. If neautral court means that much come March, then those with concerns may want to hop over to the 11th region and be closer to home at EKU.

Mason has a long history better than any other team of doing well in the tournament. Great coaching and players yes. Advantage of homecourt help yes. the years there is a clear cut favorite your right the best team usually wins. Other years it is an advantage. Personally I would like to see it stay at the fieldhouse. I just don't think it will when it comes down to districts deciding it.

Let's get real here.

In years where two or more teams are pretty much equal in region play, well!!!! Gee golly whiz.....it doesn't take a rocket scientist to determine that the host school/team has the ADVANTAGE!!!

Spin it anyway you want: Gate reciepts, fans being turned away, most central location, the best team wins anyway...blah, blah, blah!

The bottom line is, it's not FAIR for one school to host the region every single year. I don't care if every team in the region, except two or three, accepts it. That's not the point. It's still not fair to those two or three schools who DON'T accept that thinking. And it is an advantage to the host school in years when the region is competitive. That's the bottom line.
