I thought that it does look alot like the gym at PCC , which does hold 4200 people. Meanwhile the other perry county high school plays in a gym that won't seat 500 and only has bleachers on one side and has the students eating lunch on the gym floor.

4200 is plenty big enough. Knott County's gym seats 5000, and one of their school officials told me that during the season, even on nights when they had a big crowd, it still looked like there weren't very many fans in the gym, and the cheers and noise was muffled. Of course that wasn't the case during last year's regional tournament, which had a packed house on most nights, and standing room only in the semifinals. But during the regular season less is probably better than more.

IMO, it is crazy for one team to always have the home court and home crowd advantage in an event as special as a regional tournament. Give someone else a chance.:banana:

I'm not talking about tournament games. The point I made was referring to regular season games.

 

But as far as tournament games are concerned, I still think it should be rotated, even if it's only rotated between 2 schools. That's the fair thing to do, and if it only benifits Clark, montgomery, and a few other counties in the region, well so be it. They're members of the region too.

Those 1800 people who aren't "getting in" need to leave the house a little earlier and beat the crowd, then maybe they'll get in. The early bird gets the worm.

It appears the way these discussions are going that Mason County will still have the tournament 3 out of 4 years. I think that's a reasonable compromise.

So to me it sounds like Montgomery shouldn't worry about how big their gym is because without the support of the northern counties there won't be a crowd at all!

1 year, about 40 years ago... Yeah I would make all my decisions based on that too! Anybody who wants to boycott will not be missed, because I am sure that others will fill those seats.

I moved to Clark Co 15 years ago...don't know what happened 40 years ago. :confused: I do know that we disagree on the issue of the 10 region tourney....and that is OK. I respect where you are coming from...I just hope you can respect my views.

I realized that you hadn't been in the 10th region for that long and that is why I drew out what happened less than 40 years ago when they tried to house the regional tournament and couldn't. I am sure you can talk to some of your neighbors or basketball fans in the Winchester area and if they are still around they could tell you. Anyways, moving right along.... I am not quite sure why a new gym would be built that holds 4200 and expect to house crowds on semi final and championship night to be successful. Get the right matchups involved, on a Friday night and they will be turning fans away by the buses. If they can hold it then I say fine and would be happy for Montgomery County, and I will say it again, location doesn't matter in the regional tournament, the best team on the court does......and that my friend is why they win! I know we disagree, that is fine. I respect your views, of course back in 83 and 86(I know you have only been in Clark County for 15 years), none of this really mattered because your Cardinals from GRC were heading to the state tournament after winning at the Fieldhouse.
