I'm guessing at the end of the day it all comes down to money.

 

I think you can get more people (paid!) into the Fieldhouse than you can into the Montgomery County gym and I don't think the politics of the region is such that the Northern Kentucky schools (Pendleton County east) will vote to switch to a site further away.

 

The only reason to switch would be a discussion on the competitive balance of the region--and if it is an unfair advantage to Mason County. While it is undoubtable an advantage, history tells us that more often than not--it is about the players and not about the gym the game is played in.

Absolutely! If it were about the gym, and no offense to these schools, but Brossart and Campbell would not have beat Mason co. in the title game when they went to Rupp.Those teams both played thier tails off!

Rupp is bigger and is a Central location in the state. Mason is bigger and is a Central location in the region. The only team that benefits from the 2 team rotation is Montgomery because every other year it's at home for them. Campbell or Pendleton get nothing out of having the region in at Montgomery County except a longer drive. IF there was a rotation or a neutral court that would be great. There isn't. I can't support moving the region to benefit Montgomery County and Clark County(with a shorter drive) and noone else. People keep saying "what's fair for the kids" and it isn't moving the region to Montgomery County.

No ones saying they dont care about these schools. Both are steeped in 10th region tradition. But you must look at it for the good of the region as a whole. Traveling to Montgomery does not benefit any of the Notheren KY. schools, nor would traveling to NKU help the southern schools. The best location for all is the Fieldhouse.

No they can drive just like the good folks in Northern Kentucky. Wanting it in Montgomery County is selfish for two teams. Scott doesn't want it at Scott. Campbell County doesn't want it at CC. Only Montgomery County wants it and instead of a contender gym they built a pretender gym. I am a CC/PC guy. I don't want it held in Northern KY (even though I live in Erlanger) so how is wanting a Central/big/GREAT location selfish?

But let's look at it like this, yes Mason County has a homecourt advantage by hosting the 10th Region Tournament, on the other side of the coin they had a team that consisted of Mr. Basketball, Chris Lofton, they also had teams that went to the state tournament and won a few games the last 2 seasons and represented,I think, the 10th region very well. They have a whole student body full of talent to pick from, not to take away from the other powerhouses like GRC, Harrison County, Pendleton County, but really as PR said this thing is a dead horse and we need to look at the real reason Mason County is so successful, is because of the kind of talent, and the coaching they have.

As soon as it is the 40th district's turn to host which I think is 07-08 they will vote to have it at Montgomery County's Gym. Then when the 37th has there turn it would not surprise me to see it move to NKU (If arena is finished) I still see the fieldhouse hosting the region 2 out of every 4 years as it should. Moving it around 50% of the time would seem fair to me if that is what the district (40th and 37th) schools want. Who knows maybe they will vote to keep it at the fieldhouse.

I will be one that will be surprised is either of those votes are past to move the region to either location.

Does anyone have the cost or seating capacity? I think though that they should move it around it is only fair, either that or have Maysville-Mason practice/play at the old Maysville High Gym duriing pre and regular seasons and that way they really would not have so much of a home court advantage.
