Montgomery should have a chance to host the tourney. From what i hear from our administration is that playing at the Fieldhouse brings in big bucks for the athletic program. Nice gym or not, it Montgomery can't make the teams as much money as Mason, it will move back to Maysville. You wait and see!!

 

 

Agree, it will be like in 1969 at Clark County, they will get the chance and with the right draw in the tournament, they won't handle a semi-final game with the crowd, much less a championship game. It changed hands in '69, and Clark failed, so another 40th district team will get the chance and the tournament will be returned to the Fieldhouse the following year. Statewide, the 10th Region Tournament is like no other, and that is why spectators come from Ohio and even 16th region fans make their way as well. Montgomery County's gym looks great, enjoy!

If Montgomery Co does get to host the region...I am sure that there will be some that will complain no matter how the tourney is run. Will there be mistakes..I am sure there will be...you can't compare someone hosting it for years with a school that is hosting it for the first time in many years... or never has.

I am still trying to figure out why this thing is still debated. The best team on the floor wins the game, wherever the game is being played. Whenever

10th Region Tournament time comes around, the best teams on the given 3 nights played in the tournament advances and moves on. Bottom line!

For a Mason County fan and supporter I would think if you believe this then you wouldn't be so much against having the region at a different location once in a while.Mason and Clark should be matched fairly close this year.What if Clark wins at home and Mason wins at the fieldhouse(I don't know if they play twice or not).Tell me that Mason does not have an advantage playing at home and if the region was at Clark then they would have an advantage.Money is the reason all the schools vote to have the region at Mason and if and when another option that is just as good comes along you can bet that will change.:thumb:

I don't know that exact answer to this, but it's something about the building codes for the Montgomery Co. school system. I'll look into the "official" reason why it wasn't built bigger than it was.

I agree they made a mistake by not making it at least a 5,000 seat arena, but there are some things you don't have control over.

I do think Montgomery deserves a shot at the Boys regional tournament at least once. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Nobody in the region is going to lose any $$ if it comes to Mt. Sterling, I can promise you that.

My issue is not how the tourney will be ran, but capable of holding the crowds and eveything else to do with the crowds. Montgomery County has some fine administrators and people that have been around basketball for a long time.

Regardless of who I am a fan of or supporter of, common sense tells me that since 1970, the region hasn't left Mason County, if it works out for Montgomery County then I am happy for them, my opinion says and thinks they won't be able to host the crowds on Friday and Saturday night. Also since your a late bloomer in the conversation, if you would look at my earlier post then you would see that I said that its not about location come March, its about the best team winning on that given night. Teams outside of Mason County on their own Mason's floor have downed the Royals and headed to the state. Let me bottom line you once again, best team wins and it doesn't matter where you play it. Lets see, Mason had an advantage in 71 as Pendleton County beats Mason in the finals, in 79, Harrison County wins the 10th over Mason, 83 and 86 when Clark beat the Royals for a trip to Rupp, 1995, Montgomery beats Mason to advance to Rupp, 2000 as Brossart upends the Royals all at the fieldhouse and finally Campbell County in 01 beats Mason. I will bottom line it one more time, I think the best team won the games on those given nights.

Who ever host the region does have the advantage....homecourt...period.:thumb:
