Louisville 35 Purdue 28

Featured Replies

Hats off to Purdue who will battle Illinois as the last place B10 team. They showed a lot of heart. Lamar is gonna have to do it himself for another 12 weeks and hope his D gets some stops.

I've seen UL's team described as "Lamar Jackson and a bunch of dudes."

That's what "any major dude will tell you."

Louisville isn't just Lamar and a bunch of dudes. It's Lamar and Jaire with a bunch of dudes.

Might be down to Lamar now, at least for a while.

JA and Grant trying so hard. It's cute. :lol2: :lol2:

1st game sloppiness was all over the place this weekend. UofL just was at the top of the list. It would be less troubling if it weren't an extension of last season and reflective of what Petrino prioritizes as a HC. I could almost live with a bunch of penalties if they were borne out of aggression & passion, but these were just silly.

15 played reasonably well after 10 went out. Thought the PI on him was a bad call but could see how the ref thought he backed into the WR which forced the push off.

7 was very lucky they didn't have a better camera angle on his fumble at the goal line. Ball security is not prioritized by coaches of players (regardless of what they do all week, it isn't sinking in). That said, 1st goal line fumble was on the FB (#85) who took a bad angle and bumped into LJ. The 2nd goal line fumble was on the RB who tried to extend the ball in traffic and a knee knocked it out.

Expected 34 to run more and more effectively. Saw glimpses of 26 that are promising but they didn't run any of the RBs enough to get a rhythm or make an impression.

Fitpatrick emerging should be a blessing for 9. They went heavily to 9 early and often. He will draw defensive attention unless others (including 1 across the middle) can hurt them when he does. 5 was not a factor.

TEs look inexperienced but have upside. Everyone is going to pale in comparison to Hikutini but that position is needed in Petrino's offense.

Good to see Young, Hearns and others making plays. Last couple of drives they applied pressure and prevented Sindelar from getting chunk yardage. The entire defense needs to wrap up better from a tackling standpoint.

Special teams were very good.

On to Chapel Hill to face a "highly praised" team coming off an opening day loss at home. Need to make 'em 0-2, but will have to play much better to do so.

Good analysis coach Tubbervile... :lol2:

Trying hard? Purdue is one of the worst teams in the B10, they have no talent on their roster at all, that's why Brohm is now there. They went 3-9 last year and 1-8 in the B10.

You were a 25.5 favorite!

Facts over feelings bro, sorry.

You all always do what you can do discredit everything Louisville does, I just didn't know you all felt so threatened by them, that's all. Unfortunately for you all, you don't change any UL fans' opinions on the team.

Objective UL fans know that they're a one man show. Lamar is still the best player in football, nobody can deny that. You're simply just trying to deflect how bad Purdue is.

If you think I'm going to argue MY objectivity with YOU... :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Dave Lackford is doing his weekly Louisville video breakdown on Twitter this morning. It's become my favorite thing to see following a Louisville game over the last couple seasons. Breakdowns of individual plays, talking about what worked and what didn't. It's solid stuff.

He's @RivalsDave on Twitter. Good follow for both Louisville and Florida State fans.

Good win. Beat an inspired Big 10 team under a good new head coach that was playing at home. Despite all of teh turnovers and penalties, I never really felt like Louisville was going to lose the game. Offensive line was pretty good, freshman center got yelled at a lot but is going to be good, freshman RT Becton is going to be really good, DL was getting decent pressure on 4 man rush and I thought they would be a weakness, secondary is very solid, blue collar mentality to the defense. Receivers and running backs need to step it up. I didn't see enough there to beat Clemson or FSU, but if they improve every week this can be a really nice team.

Thanks for the tip. Sounds like Dave needs to change the battery in his smoke detector. :)

I tuned in to see #55 Freshman linebacker Derrick Barnes, Holy Cross alum. He's gotten bigger!

That's what "any major dude will tell you."

Nicely done. The rock world mourns the passing of the great Walter Becker.
