Is there a big rivalry game that you're interested to see the outcome of? Or a match-up between two teams from different classes? Maybe a game with a team from out of state? Or are there two teams who will just be battling it out for their district title that you'd like to see?

I would say Ryle at Cov Cath right out of the chute!

Highlands VS. Dixie

 

CovCath is the obvious favorite in 5A District 5

 

The HHS / Dixie game will determine second place in the district and who gets a home playoff game. District 5 is matched up with district 3 (Bullitt Counties/Nelson/Oldhams) for the playoffs. It is important for teams like HHS that are trying to get back on top to keep playing into November. Longer season = more practice, more games, and more experience for younger kids. No more one and done in the playoffs.

Hard one to narrow down for me. I can think of about 15 right now that I consider really interesting matchups. One that is definitely near the top of the list though is Beechwood versus Corbin.

Ryle vs Simon Kenton will be a interesting matchup.

I'm going to say the NCC vs Cov cath scrimmage this Friday. They are doing a fundraiser for ALS. Eddie Eviston's brother is battling with ALS right now. There is a GoFundMe page.

Does Ryle pick back up where they left off last year? How well does Coach Eviston build on what he's done thus far with the Colonels? Should be a big season for Cov Cath...can they start it off with a win against a 6A team?

 

09/08/17 Beechwood vs. Corbin

Two traditional powers butting heads after a long absence from one anothers' schedules. 2006 1A champion Beechwood versus 2006 3A semifinalist Corbin.

 

09/08/17 Newport Catholic vs. Belfry

I'm expecting a third straight Belfry win in this game. Will the 3A Pirates stomp the 2A Breds again? Are they as strong as last season? Has New Cath stepped up at all? Always interesting to see teams from different regions play.

 

09/15/17 Newport Catholic vs. Christian Academy - Louisville

This one is CAL's to lose. I'm still going to be watching just because of my general interest in NKY teams...and you've got to like New Cath for having THREE of the 2016 state champs on their schedule in 2017.

 

10/20/17 Highlands @ Greenwood

An interesting cross-state matchup between two teams in the same classification. Not something you get to see every year. This should give us a bit of a window into how 5A football in WKY and 5A football in NKY stack up against each other.

 

10/27/17 Conner @ Frederick Douglass

We'll get to see how the new 6A Douglass team matches up against one of their 6A competitors from up in NKY.

10/06/17 Indianapolis Bishop Chatard (IN) @ CovCath

 

Looking forward to seeing the Trojans in their first trip to NKY.

I don't think the Ryle/CovCath game will be as good as hyped. First game mistakes I would rather see this game after week 6.
