Nicest/largest stadiums and facilities

Featured Replies

I've been going to games for more than 35 years and have never had to park more than 1/4 mile (or even less) away. If you think that is too far, then I don't know what to tell you. Stay home I guess. I've parked farther away at Boone, Campbell, Beechwood, Elder and others. The next time you go to a game there and have to park "far" away, enjoy your walk through a beautiful city and take it all in. At least you're not crossing a busy highway like some of the above schools.

I will take in the scenery on my long walk. Good idea.:thumb:

I agree that the money could POTENTIALLY be spent in other and more effective ways. That said, I'm not sure what more could be done in respect to the acedemic side of Belfry's new campus. I realize that it would take a large sum of money to produce a jumbotron or Pirateship for Cam Stadium, but at the same time, we are talking about private donations, which IMO should be given in ANY respect, assuming they are given with no strings attached.

IMO, funds given to support an extra cirricular activity are certainly subject to scrutiny, but not to be denied.

I guess the question would be: Why should a local corporation be unduly criticized for improving the community, regardless of it's motive? If Massey Energy, Central Appalachian Mining, McDonalds, Belfry Sports Shop, etc be precluded from playing the role of philantrophist? Isn't the burden of supporting public education on the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the county and municiple governements within the Commonwealth?

One of the MOST IMPROVED FIELDS would go to the Newport Stadium.

And an overhead shot of the whole thing, before any of the fields were sodded. The baseball and softball fields look awesome now, and there is a cover over the baseball field bleachers. A lot of fencing has been added and the soccer field/track on the left is finished.

.

The track field was the old football field, right?

What was in the place of where the new field is now?

The new school and field is at a completely different location about 2.5 miles down the road. The new location used to be a gravel pit.

The old school, with stadium, gym, and athletic complex, has been converted into a middle school. It may very well have some of the nicest facilities for a middles school in East KY now.

No, all this is new. The old school and field was 2-3 miles away.

I agree BIGBLUE63 that Newport was bad but I still think it had more blades of grass after a few games than Dixie's old field.

Dixie's old field was terrible, and the new field is much better.

All around the Newport stadium is quite an improvement taking into consideration the stands, courtyard area and all surrounding facilities.

Congrat's both teams on great fields to play on.

There are some(myself included) that want the money to be able to add on to the current complex, add seating to the visitors side as well as get about $500,000 to add the second facility for indoor football practice and has a floo that could be put down for volleyball/basketball practices and PE

I've been to a ton of big games in Ft Thomas and always get the same spot, less than a 5 minute walk to the field.

Dixie's old field was horrible... I would say the worst in nky...
