:thumb: I also enjoy listening to Dickie Martin, imo he is by far the best play by play man in h.s. football and basketball that I have heard. Yes, he is a homer but I can deal with that. He has been the play by play man for the Ashland Tomcats for many years and he should be a homer. I can block out all of his extra comments and take them with a grain of salt. They really do not bother me, his play by play more than makes up for it.

And at least you know his broadcasts will always be entertaining.

Dickie Martin is the best I have ever heard call a high school ballgame. He is 2nd generation "Voice of the Tomcats" too. Love him or hate him, but when you listen to his broadcasts, you know what's going on. I have listened to many other area radio sports broadcasters and IMO, there is a huge gap between the quality of No 1 and second place.

Stan Hardin is his name. He may be a homer, but he is not what I would really call biased. He gives credit to the players regardless of which team they play on and does not complain about the officiating.

There is a set of announcers at another local school that even their own fans have a hard time listening to, but I won't name names.

Dickie Martin makes me puke. hahahahahahahahahahahaha

Dickie does a good job. What is wrong with little bias as long as you paint the picture the same when things need fixed?

Actually, his name is Stan Lovett.

Hands-down it's Mr. Dickie Martin. It's a no brainer here... As far as play-by-play announcing, there are few, if any, better than Mr. Martin. If he would keep his insults and slandering of the opposing team and most of all the officials to himself and just announce the game as he sees it, he would be in a class by himself. He does a tremendous job of painting a mental image of the game in one's mind. He's the best that I've heard anywhere around here and quite possibly one of the best in the state at giving play-by-play annoucements. It's the bias opinions and insults I think everyone could do without.

I see the Raceland - Ashland lovefest continues...

2 guys on Cov Cath radio network..... although they are students of the school I believe so who can blame em.

They crack me up sometimes.

One is a grad. One is a parent of a student.

In no way do they even come close to the measuring stick used in the original post.

:thumb: Dickie is a Homer and he will tell you so. His show is advertised as the "Voice of the Ashland Tomcats" and that should be a dead give away. I always like listening to different broadcasters and they all have their own "Homer Style". Most are entertaining. But one thing Dickie has that most do not, is a real talent for play by play. I'm sure Dickie rubs some opponents fans the wrong way.... But, I for one am glad he's a Tomcat!

Keep up the good work Dickie!!! :ylsuper:
