Russell's district 5 moves to region 2 to match up against district 4( Boyle County, Lex Cath this year and district 3( Central) next year, with a potential trip across the state to Paducah or whoever wins between d1 or d2, in the semi-finals this year if Russell would make it that far)

Russell, along with Bath Co and others in D5, are now in Region 2 the next 2 seasons. If any were to make it to the state semis they would face the winner of region 1 (Tilghman, Caldwell Co, etc.) and then the winner of 3 vs 4 in the finals.

 

The voting members wanted rotation in semi state not whatever this is.

I think the KHSAA forgot that they put the far Eastern Districts in Region 3 in 3A.

 

You are looking at a potential trip from Belfry to Louisville for a Regional Final.

 

Then again.. I guess if everyone is tired of Belfry vs. Central in the 3A Finals it makes sense to force them to play each other in Round 3

South Oldham would have had to travel to semi-finals in 2015 if they won the Regional, did go to Pulaski Co last season for semi-finals and this season will travel to semi-finals should they make it that far. That's 3 seasons in a row. Seems the KHSAA doesn't believe District 3 5A would make it that far or worthy of hosting.

Yes. On the chart you'll see the regions are designated. In odd years, 2 is at 1, 4 is at 3. In even years it is reversed.

What about the regional championship games?

That also was on the even odd type of thing with the districts. Can't do that anymore.

They'll do what they've done in the past concerning cross bracketing if regional finalists are both the same seed:

 

Odd years, the odd district hosts. If both districts are odd or even, the low numbered district would host.

 

Even years, the even district hosts. If both districts are even or odd, the high numbered district would host.
