Also, if you use HUDL, it imports into Max Preps. If you use TAFSB as a few Kentucky Schools do, it imports into hudl and then into max preps.

The input into MaxPreps is not the issue. My software creates a MaxPreps formatted file. One button...click...done. KHSAA is a pain because it is manual entry. I'm not a coach, but if I were a coach of a school with limited resources, I'd be hating how the time needed to manually enter stats on sites like KHSAA would take away from my other activities (coaching, reviewing the next opponent, family time, etc.).

The great players in the state don't need stats to prove how good they are. People in the know, already know who they are.

 

Stats can be padded and too many variables for the stats to be accurate.

What does it hurt for them to have their stats on the web site?

 

Maybe the NFL should quit keeping stats and making them addressable to the public. People in the know already know Tom Brady is good

I disagree

 

Even those of us that follow the entire State closely can be surprised by an athlete from a "lesser exposed" school.

 

If you don't think All-State Voters, the media, and people who select some of these more prestigious intrastate All-Star teams don't look at the KHSAA Stats you would be fooling yourself.

 

Is posting stats going to get Jimmy Jackson from Trigg County a scholarship to a FBS School? Absolutely not.

 

But will it help lead to him getting some ink in newspapers, an All-State team, and then subsequently help his resume when Murray State evaluates him? Absolutely.

Funny since this upcoming school year is my 50th since graduating from HS, I got to thinking of some friends of mine who back in the day kept the Football and Basketball stats by hand without the support of a computer. They never complained about the time it took or the extra work and those guys were very, very smart, as they were done or almost done before we got on the bus to go home. Today we push a couple of buttons and presto, the stats are printed out and sent out to the local media and Coaching staff. What a change from today.

Speaking for baseball and softball if you do your stats on GameChanger the stats can be sent directly to MaxPreps which automatically links to KHSAA stats. So you don't have to total stats in book then input stats online. Very quick and easy.

I think we adults (the school adults) owe it to our student athletes to record and report accurate stats in a timely manner.

 

And again everyone, it is GOOD for the schools to HAVE to answer to someone. Many schools can be very snobbish and think they are in charge of the Universe.

For $1,000 per season a team could purchase Hudl Asssit unlimited and get not only their stats done but also their formations, motion, def, etc all by Hudl within 24 hrs.

You can also use Hudl tag a game for free (Hudl members) and do stats live during the game on a pretty intuitive software although it is still flawed, mostly accurate but it falls short on turnovers, interception and fumble returns, penatly handling especially on kickoff and punt returns or holds downlfield on a long run where some of the yardage counts.

Don't think it should be required, but it's beneficial if they do.

 

I agree that the KHSAA stats entry is outdated and a pain. (Try inputting a guy with one catch for minus-2 yards and watch what happens.) And I've found the current KHSAA SID a pain to work with. They guy before him was great, so YMMV.
