Required? No.

What's the point of requiring stats? Who benefits?

No. Pain in the rear to many schools who do not have a stats staff so it ends up in the coach's lap along with 1000 other things.

Bigger reason:No value to the other KHSAA members.

Wouldn't coaches want their own stars?

Doing stats and being required to submit them are completely different.

Just wondering, as I sometimes do but why and how so?

It is a great convenience for fans. I just can't support it being required.

Ok but why?

I think as long as they are up by Saturday, then yes. You got some people that think they should be up the second the game is over. Not everyone has 14 coaches on staff.

If my team takes great stats for ourselves, for our own use, how do we benefit from being required to report those stats?

Doesn't matter to me one bit. If I want to see and/or know about a kid....as a fan..I just search them (and/or their team) on Hudl and you can see all you need to know. These young cats will have their season highlight updated two hours after their most recent game from that Friday night is uploaded to Hudl. Lol

As a coach? You see all you need to see through film trade.

You assume that no other schools does what you do, for their team? Honestly, I have found that the majority of the teams in Football and Basketball at least, more times than not are pretty straightforward, if for no other reason, than to give their players some notoriety.

No, I assume most teams keep good stats.

My point is why should anybody be required to report those? The reporting school doesn't benefit.

Show me a huddle film of a baseball game? In all my years of doing baseball games, I have never seen a Baseball team tape a game and again at least in baseball, there is no rule of sharing or trading film.

Recognition for the players.

So you don't think Coaches look at the other teams stats to see how a pitcher is throwing or just how many pitches their ace has thrown? Wanna bet that every Baseball Coach playing in this week's State Tourney is looking at the KHSAA boxes scores, or calling up a friend to find out a little about the team he is playing?

Because some teams currently playing in the state turney didn't bother to post their stats, who benefits? The team who followed the rule handed down by the KHSAA, or the team who didn't follow the rule!

Recognition for the players.

That can be done in programs and local newspapers. KHSAA doesn't need to be a part of it.

Coaches/teams trade film. Very few would rely on any stats KHSAA provided to build a game plan.

The Khsaa sites gets so many hits. People outside of that teams local area can see them as well.
