If there is no money, there is no funding, and the stream becomes a trickle. Use electronic surveillance through internet spying and use the CIA to find the money trails back to the sources. Eliminate the sources and it is much harder to fund cell groups, set up plans, finance leadership, buy munitions, and train terrorists.

What if we find out their money is coming from a country like Russia or Saudia Arabia?

I could wrong but I think Jackie meant that as to how that is what would have to happen and not necessarily the route to take. It makes sense. If the US and allies launched a full fledged attack on a Muslim country to rid us of ISIS then Muslims would likely perceive that as an attack on their faith and all that would do is deepen the divide between Muslims and the rest of the world. The only way to rid that divide? Eradicate the Muslim religion and I think we all know that is impossible.

We would only be eradicating a billion or so, maybe two..., tops!

Could be. But the question was what do we do to defeat and eradicate ISIS. This is a good plan I think regardless of the horrible truth it unearths.

My suggestion would be that the "powers that be", whomever that is, already knows where the money is coming from which is why it hasn't been done. AKA, they don't want to defeat and eradicate ISIS.

That's my fear as well. Always has been.

 

But I again approach the question guru asked and to me this is the best solution to the problem. The reasoning is simple that I presented but the other aspect of the idea is the limiting of innocent lives lost. We aren't carpet bombing ISIS into oblivion and if we try thousands or more will die that were never involved except they were in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people. You chase the money an eliminate that threat and the guilty are brought to justice and the future funding partners will disappear into the shadows.

So where are all the people in the other threads who know exactly what we should do?

What has shocked me for years is that it keeps being said that most of ISIS funds come from selling oil from oil fields they took over. IMO those are some hard targets that could be shut down immediately. Shut down the Oil Fields, shut down the transportation of the oil, shut down the refineries and go after those that are illegally buying oil from them.

The oil they are selling isn't going into the market we get our oil from. It's being sold on the black market. Stopping it should have no impact on what we pay for gas.

I've been saying this for years:

 

We hold ourselves to too high a standard as a country in terms of how we deal with punishing those who attack us. Our enemy is crazy. They have demonstrated as much, countless times, in grisly online videos of beheadings and other such stuff.

 

We must quit holding ourselves to this high standard that others don't really see in us as a country anyway. We must out-crazy them. "Surgical strikes" and "smart bombs" don't work on people whose entire lives have been spent waiting for the next big explosion.

 

The G-Bomb achieves that. The G-Bomb — short for "Garbage Bomb" — achieves that. Empty our junkyards and slaughterhouses and use those as means to achieve an end. Fill our bombers up with something other than grossly expensive bombs, instead using just flat-out gross things, that can be cheaply had.

 

Load those bombers up with old bowling balls, junk cars, refrigerators and other household appliances. And yes, at the risk of sounding a bit racist (I'll power through it as usual), use pig entrails and other leftover pork products in the mix.

 

If that doesn't get the attention of those who choose to do us harm, if that doesn't get the attention of those who think we play too nice in war, then we will never win. You want to get a point across via "shock and awe," then you must out-crazy the opponent and show them we, as a country, are not to be trifled with.

 

Whoever is the loudest anti-Western imam gets a bomber-load of pig parts dropped on his mansion. Wherever there is a camp hosting radical terrorists, pig parts. With a healthy mix of bowling balls, junk cars and old appliances.

 

You can't win a war against someone who doesn't play by the same rules. We have the most impressive military in the world. Use it to send a very uncomfortable message that we are not a country to be trifled with. If others object, oh well. Johnny's Bowl-A-Rama's refuse is coming your way.

Maybe - I'm no economist. But every time there's a ripple over there, gas goes up a quarter.
