What should the United States do about ISIS and how should we do it?

Kill them!

Agree! Completely obliterate them! The how is the hard part because they're such cowards that hide and only attack innocent unarmed people.

In order to gain ground in the war on ISIS in an effective and efficient manner we would need to sacrifice our rights to privacy as citizens of the United States. We'd also need as many resources as possible to go to the Department of Homeland Defense and equip the CIA with everything they need to infiltrate ISIS. We need top notch surveillance in America and abroad. We need on the ground undercover agents actively working to get in ISIS for information purposes. We need to be able to torture known associates/members of ISIS once we capture them. When we identify members of ISIS we need to be able to capture them immediately and take them to an undisclosed location and torture them for information. We need a true coalition worldwide that allows us to identify innocent people in the wrong place so when the time comes to bomb a known ISIS area we aren't killing innocent women and kids. And none of this needs to be something the public knows so we'd need to control the media as best as possible to prevent these plans, actions and strategies from being released to the public. The less the public knows the better. So that means our leaders in DC would need to do a lot of unconstitutional things to get ahead in this battle against ISIS. IMO that is one of the few ways to get ahead in this battle against ISIS. I don't know how it is possible to do so without violating a few of the amendments of the constitution without killing innocent people and children. Not to mention the entire balance of the economies of countries are involved in this so that has to be taken into account as well. Russia runs Assad, Assad is fighting ISIS and others for control of Syria. It's messy as hell over there and fixing the ISIS problem is messy as well.

In order to kill them all (which I'm good with FWIW), we'd have to do mass bombings and special ops. That's going to result in hundreds, if not thousands, of innocent civilians including many women and children being killed.

If we say that's acceptable and go that route, at that point, are we any better than them?

As someone said, the "what do to" is the easy part. The how is incredibly complicated.

That's the thing that always sticks out to me. People are ready to go over and annihilate them but isn't us doing mass bombings the same thing they are doing to us that we abhor? Like you said, we'd be no better than them. That shouldn't be our goal IMO.

The how is absolutely complicated. I'm interested in seeing what other ideas people can come up with.

I have zero issues with torturing those we believe involved to gain more information.

You'd have to totally eradicate the religion of Islam, books and any writings. Then eradicate the Muslims still here. They are brainwashed and terrorized from their first breaths and it's nothing we can do about it, but protect ourselves as best as possible.

A very powerful 30 second clip showed a bunch of Manchester United (soccer) fans singing a song in the tune of "she'll be comin' round the mountain" outside a pub before a Man U game yesterday. Look it up on YouTube. I don't know if we can post it here. The whole world is fed up with ISIS and Al-Queda and whatever else we call them.

But we'd also have to be extremely ignorant to think our own country, in the name of oil($) isn't also helping aid these groups to keep things disrupted in the Middle East.

:scared::rolleyes: Wow! Just, Wow!

Can't expound on it right now but thought I'd throw this out.

Follow the Money!

If there is no money, there is no funding, and the stream becomes a trickle. Use electronic surveillance through internet spying and use the CIA to find the money trails back to the sources. Eliminate the sources and it is much harder to fund cell groups, set up plans, finance leadership, buy munitions, and train terrorists.

Eliminate the money sources. First step IMO.

I could wrong but I think Jackie meant that as to how that is what would have to happen and not necessarily the route to take. It makes sense. If the US and allies launched a full fledged attack on a Muslim country to rid us of ISIS then Muslims would likely perceive that as an attack on their faith and all that would do is deepen the divide between Muslims and the rest of the world. The only way to rid that divide? Eradicate the Muslim religion and I think we all know that is impossible.

I like this one a lot. I think this is a great first step and I'd hope they are already doing something of this nature.

What if we find out their money is coming from a country like Russia or Saudia Arabia?

I also think it is important to keep in mind that no matter what the course of action that is taken any action taken against ISIS will likely recruit more members to ISIS. I don't think we'll ever be able to totally rid the world of ISIS

Eliminate the sources. Gloves taken off our CIA and eliminate the sources.

Russia won't risk Nuclear War.

Saudi Arabia won't risk losing our support that keeps them in power.

Other "sympathizers" will close their bank accounts to them for fear of waking up with a headless body and/or headless horse in their bed.
